Nitroman Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Just a little FYI. Table Rock State Park launch ramp is open, & the campground is open. Marina ( figured it would be as it is privately operated on a 50 year lease ) is open. Appeared to be business as usual. Not sure about Moon Shine Beach. Duck Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Champ, I have a life time National Parks and Federal Recreation Lands Pass I bought when I turned 62 for I think 15$, it lets me in to any National Park free and my pass for any Corps lake is $15 a year. Check it out. Duck
GNSfishing Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I have the Golden Age passport which cost a 1 time fee of $10.00 which gives me 1/2 off on National Parks admission, use Corp ramps for a $15.00 yearly fee which is bargain for us older folks. They have changed the name to a Senior Pass for age 62 and over, but the Golden Age passport is still in effect.
Flysmallie Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Saw a post on Facebook that Moonshine is closed. Â Â
Jerry Rapp Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 just remember the Corps ramp fees were implemented by Clinton, even though "we the people" paid for the lakes in the first place. And I worked for the Corps for 32 years and knew several lake managers and they all said the administrative costs never justified the fees. I voted against every incumbent last election, and I will keep doing so as long as I can, until OUR elected officials get it at least semi-right.

jdmidwest Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 State owned facilities should remain open, they are funded by different taxes. But the Federal Government, aka Corps of Engineers, control the riverways. I would think our State Government should step in and seize control until they get the Federal mess straightened out. merc1997 Bo Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 well, if i could go fishing, i guess that i would just be in jail because, i would take a pair of bolt cutter with me. when is the government going to realize that we the tax payers own the lakes and everything else, not them. we paid for the dams, lakes, ramps campgrounds, and still pay usage fees, which many of us have purchased a yearly pass. we do just fine when the attendent buildings are not manned to begin with. bo
Members littlejasper Posted October 2, 2013 Members Posted October 2, 2013 Bo, take your medication. Calm down, you rebel rouser.
skeeter Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Read where only COE operated campgrounds will close. Those operated by this private organization that currently operate several COE campgrounds on TR will remain open....BUT...since the COE just ruled against the legality of it's contracts with these private groups that is not a sure thing. At the Baxter launch ramp, for instance, the iron gates leading to the campground are past the road leading to the launch ramp, so if the COE puts up barricades to the launch ramp road that WE own, simply move the stupid things and launch and enjoy your day of fishing on OUR Lake. It's OURS,.not THEIRS !!!
