Well around here it's very rare to get a badge carrier to take the time to decipher the statutes on the scene. He'll just write you up to appease the property owner and tell you to take your rule book to court with you.

They don't waste gas, if they show up somebody is gonna loose some money.

Well I will just put it this way, if an officer ever cited me for it, next stop would be their office to speak with his boss as I was on Public land and following the law I would ask his supervisor to explain to me how I was cited for being legal and had I not made the retrieve attempt I would be in violation for wanton waste. Im betting that would be the end of it.

Most of the rookie duck hunters I've seen have duck reservation mentality and try to take a 50 yard pass shot because they are afraid of another group of hunters calling the ducks away. If they would just learn how to call and have a little patience to wait till they drop their landing gear, they wouldn't cripple so many birds in the first place.

Couldn't agree more Mitch, 5 stages of a hunter!

I actually bite the bullet so to speak each year and buy Heavy Shot for the simple reason I HATE CRIPPLES and that stuff knocks them dead no worries. Expensive as hell but a box or two every couple weeks aint to bad and typically gives me more than enough for a season... Now snow Goose killing I go as cheap as possible

Definitely made you earn that one DD ;). Never crawled into a hole after one myself but I watched my old yella dawg barrel down a huge hollowed out log up on the bluff across from the first cut in Cockleburr chasing a hen mallet. Shot her and she glided across the cove and preceded to start up the hill. Whit and the hen made it about half way up the hill before she decided to run into the log with the yella cannon ball hot on her tail. Far enough in it that I couldn't see her and thought I was going to have to get a chain saw to get her out but she finally managed to back herself out with the duck in her mouth ;). Have to admit that I was alil worried about what she was getting into but that was her no quit drive. Also watched chase down a crippled buffle head across the mouth of Bull Creek and back zig zaggin' and diving everytime she just get to it before we were finally able to get to the boat to chase her and the duck down, that one was the one that convinced me to get a shock collar ;). Was able to get a shot on the duck and she picked it up and refused to get in the boat, swam it back to the bank and was ready to go again.
