Top 5 tournament anglers barring KVD and Clunn,

Roland Martin

Denny Brauer

Larry Nixon

Gary Klein

Ron Shuffield

There are a bunch of guys up up and coming, but to put them in the top five at this point is premature.

People will be talking about Jason Christie for years to come.

KVD to me is without doubt the best. Then I would say Rick Clunn with his 4 classic titles. 3rd would be Roland Martin, 6 angler of the year titles but never won a classic. Someone new to watch and up and coming though is Brandon Palanuik. He hasn't been on tour long but he has some quality wins and I look for him to continue this. He fell just short of the classic last year and I personally met him and talked to him. Real nice young guy.

He seems like a good stick and seems to have the drive to win. He slept in his frickin' truck while on tour for a while so he could make ends meet. If that doesn't show how bad you want it nothing will!

If a tournaments is held in Texas, watch out for that Keith Coombs.

Another good one. Saw a few episodes on TV of BASS Elite or FLW where he was killing people on Falcon and maybe Conroe was the other lake where he just tore them up on a big worm and big crank. I think he won one of the events by like 15+ lbs.

What OP was trying to say was there are some better fisherman than many of those on tour. Who cannot make it. Not because of the lack of skills but because they are not connected. Some of those people might very well be in the top if they were connected. I just do not approve of that kind of thing. So to me These guys are the top where they are. I have no idea who is out there right now that is as good or better. So it would be hard for me to agree these guys are the best when I know that being the best bass fisherman is not going to get you on tour by itself.

Agreed 100% I have seen many Federation and Weekend Tournament anglers who cannot do it for Family reason, Monetary reason and so on.

I know a guy down here in NW Arkansas who is exactly like OP is talking about ... not connected and can't afford it. He's won boat after boat around here and made some major waves on Central Pro-Am back when they were running 200 boats per tournament.

It's all about money. Just like life.

It's more about looking good and having knowledge of marketing. A lot of these guys have degrees. These companies want salesmen. If those pros can catch fish and be a good salesmen. Then you have a superstar. No offense to some of these pros but they have a network of people that gather info. before every tournament. I would like to think we would all be better with a pre loaded gps card with hundreds of waypoints. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
