fishinwrench Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 LOL Pretty much I guess. There's still a difference between standing your ground with a boss.....and just flat refusing to even HAVE a boss.
Old plug Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Yep it counts fins. Welcome to the federation of what is referred to at times as fishing bums.
Feathers and Fins Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Hey I was young, cant say stupid the new job paid better and the new boss had access to high quality cigars and liked to hunt and fish. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
glennL Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 But the greatest and still living table rock fisherman is Pete Peterson. Pete lives in Emerald Beach and has lived on the lake since the early 80's. He fishes every day in his small red boat at that end of the lake. He makes most of his own tackle. I'm glad to be able to share a coffee with him whenever i'm on the lake and always learn something about the fishing. Glenn

I know a handful just like your boy "Pete", and you'll never see any of them at a weigh-in, and likely won't see them in the local tackle shop either. Extremely low-key, ghostly old fish predators.
Mitch f Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I would think you would need an understanding wife more than anything. Unless you're one of the types that enjoys being alone ( which I could never do). If you're constantly preoccupied with a crappy relationship, I would think you can't fully concentrate and excel at achieving your potential. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

Pete's wife passed away several years ago, but he was still fishing twice everyday at about 2 hours per shot.
fishinwrench Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Two guys were out fishing near a bridge when a funeral convoy began to cross. One of the guys took his hat off and placed it over his chest until the last car was out of sight. The other guy looks at him and says, Wow Gus, I'm a bit taken back by your sensitivity there, I never knew you to be such a softy. Gus says: Yeah well, we were married for 26 years.
Feathers and Fins Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I know we are off topic a bit but its true about relationships, I have had a couple ruined by my love for fishing and hunting but I think of it a different way. Those were not meant to be anyway, how could you be happy if your spouse was jealous of what your passion was? My wife is a keeper for certain, she has laid out in cold mud hunting geese with me stood in frozen lakes hunting ducks and can catch stripers like a champion. Our Wedding day me and my brother went hunting that morning one of our most cherished pictures from the wedding was the picture of her hand and mine with the rings on at the table cake in the background. Apparently I didn't get all the blood off my hand from the birds that morning when I showered. You can still see the blood around my finger nails and webbing of my thumb and forefinger. It was a limit hunt fast she was upset she missed it. That to me is a Keeper wife in any book. And her Idea to get married during hunting season so we could spend our anniversary hunting together. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Old plug Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Well you can get thruogh it. My wife does not fish. Is not comfortabke in a boat. Does not undetstand one end of a rod from the other. There have been many tough times. But she has her thing with her computer and church. I admit she has held me back a lot. But she has had to put up with a lot being married for 50 years this year to a deaf man is not easy. I never forget that. Its a grand compromise. Ahhhhh hell fins it is a conversation on here. I never care one iota if it gets off suject. Thats how conversation are.
