Mitch f Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Haven't tried the G5, but the older one had production issues like the line tie coming off. I just didn't see the old ones having the same action as a wiggle wart, maybe the new G5 is different. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
abkeenan Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Those look pretty good. For 3 bucks and change worth a shot....IF they resolved the issues of the Warthog. That was a total flop and glad I held out to see reviews before I bought any. From the pics it looks like they have crappy chrome coated hooks. Might be just the pic I dunno, not a big deal as I would probably swap them out anyways.
Champ188 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 These are supposedly an exact replica of the old Warts. I have a couple and have been pretty pleased with them. They are in the $3 price range so no one is going to get hurt by trying them. Paint job is much better on some colors than the "new original series" that Storm is putting out. http://www.bsfishtales.com/wiggler.php
97procraft Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 For those of you who like to paint, check out my site http://www.shop.blankbaits.com/. I know, shamles plug, but they run great and catch fish. There are some there you may like and a lot cheaper than buying them from the store. jeff

Baits are the closest thing to the real deal Holyfield old school warts out there. I've heard all sorts of story's about how the original molds were destroyed by Rapala when they took over, have heard that they were destroyed in an accidental fire at the plant and have heard that the owner of Dave's Kaboom is a grand son of the original owner and he has the old original mold. Typical fish stories told by fisherman and they get stronger and more elaborate with age. If Luck E Strike can have such a great MB jerk bait knockoff then maybe they can get a pre-rapala wiggle wart knock off on the money as well.

Brads are very close and still have some of the old colors available. Have a thousand plus unpainted blanks, some are very close, others not. Some that look "off" actually run and fish better. Kind of hit and miss.
Mitch f Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Have a thousand plus unpainted blanks 1000+ blanks, 20 pounds of grubs......Man, you are my hero! "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
dtrs5kprs Posted January 21, 2014 Author Posted January 21, 2014 1000+ blanks, 20 pounds of grubs......Man, you are my hero! You should see my current fish room project. Re-setting my pegboards to reflect a more Table Rock focused approach, taking down the Truman stuff picked up 15-20 years past. Actually, it is a lot like raising children...starts with excitement and a good idea, incredible amounts of work in the middle, and hopefully a payoff in the end. This is about 1/3 done. Backside is mostly flip baits and tubes. Other walls are pegs for grubs, sticks, jig tails, hard baits, etc...Getting there. Now I just have to figure out what to do with a few thousand extra worms.
Quillback Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Just when I start to think that I've got a pretty good sized stash of fishing stuff....Good idea on the peg board.
