Greasy B Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 The blurry picture made this guy look more vicious than he really is. Can you guess the breed? His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974

Ham Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Great thread. I'm loving the dog photos. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Justin Spencer Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 This is Finn, my Boykin Spaniel. He retrieved a speck this year across a plowed field, wish I would have gotten a picture, he had to hold his head as high as he could just to keep it from dragging the ground. By the time I got a camera out he had dropped it and refused to pick it up for a picture, guess I don't blame him since it was about the same size as him. Flatbottom Boy Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 This is Sadie. I had big plans for her but never had the chance to make it happen, she passed away at a year old this past summer. My three daughters were devastated as was I. I've owned three labs and she was by far the best disciplined at such a young age. Researching reliable breeders now, but will not be able to really pursue another pup until I get back from Korea spring of 2015.
PAT92B Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Got a few pics of my old crabby German Short Hair Bo this may have been his last year of hunting he's having trouble with his back legs and hips. He is a great dog never had to train him never could he never had any interest in retrieving anything other then a bird. Hopefully i'll be able to hunt him a couple more times with my new pup next year.
Bird Watcher Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 We're getting somewhere now. Justin, Where did you get the Boykin? Has he ever retrieved a Canada? I really want a Boykin and I think I better start looking for a new pup pretty soon but I'm concerned about picking up geese. Of course, die hard Boykin guys say they can do it no problem. I just don't know if I'm sold on the idea yet. Pat92B, where you been with that homemade layout boat? I love stuff like that. Do you hunt out of it? or just use it like a sled to get gear in the marsh? or both?
Feathers and Fins Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Chris I have hunted with Boycs and Springers and never had issues with them and geese, My little girl is only 50lbs soaking wet and has no issue. I have a good friend that hunts with a standard poodle ( funny to see peoples faces when they see it ) dang thing weighs maybe 40 lbs but is a goose retrieving machine. I believe it is more the heart of the dog than the size, I have seen chessies who refuse to pick up a goose. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

Finn rice field.JPG I'm really partial to them Boykin's. Little dog with big dog heart and drive. I spend a lot of time in Alaska with one. His name is Earl the fetching squirrel. That little dog sure has fetched a lot of ducks for me and I share my bacon with him every morning. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at..
