Ealy Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 That is for sure Richy----- But it does do something for personal promotion, I had never thought of it as a named thing. It was just a way to rig it up. It is like Guido Hibdon being the father of fitness fishing. I was surprised many of these guys were not aware of it. It is just a rigging you automatically will come to thru experience. If Guido Hibdon is the father of "fitness" fishing, then call me Joe Weider.
Champ188 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Thumbs, Donna sez she'll be culling 18-inchers by 9 a.m. in those Everett derbies. You may have to step up your game a little. LOL
Old plug Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I fish almost solely for bass over 21" that what I like to do. it os. not a everyday thing but I catch a lot of other bass along with it from small to large but the hunt for the Lunkers is what I like to do . I do not keep any of themI have good years of it and bad and bad. I do no tournaments I could not really compete in tournament hours if I wanted to. I fond out when they are on a active feed then then waylay them. active feed is not usually during a the hours they have tournaments. and youdo not have to worry about catching 5 18 inches on the ned rig around here.
Old plug Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I never said he was I did not mean to imply he was. The press gave him that name. They were doing that kind of thing when creme was still making the red rubber worms
jmes Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Not to argue but last spring on LOZ 5 fish limit 18.36 lbs. All thou I didn't win the tournament, I did cash a check and it was one of those days that I was having a rough time catching any size. So I tryed the Neg rig. It not something I thought I would try up here. But that day it worked great, caught alittle over 13 keepers that day with my biggest being around 5 lbs if I remember correctly. Sometimes the craziest lure's work better in different situation
Old plug Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 i use it but a little bigger in size on the channel banks in the spring and again in the fall on Kentucky bass that I want to put in the freezer. But I have enjoyed the fishing for bass is for bass 21" or longer. It is what I enjoy doing. I do not do tournament. i do not even support the concept. iWhat i do is more like hunting than fishing. Its not a type of fishing for everyone. You only have short periods and its not something you can depend on. in this lake from friday thru monday. in the summer time it would be downright dangerous.
fishingaddiction Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I'm thinking of throwing them on schooling surfacing bass, I've got a light jig rod (spinning) that I can throw them with, I bet a white marabou zig jig falling near some bass that are chasing shad on the surface will get eaten. Rumor has it the smallies will eat the brown/orange jigs also. Probably have to go with a bottom presentation on that, either hop it or pop it and let it fall. Good point, and I do believe your right about schooling fish hitting them. Stick with the 1/8th oz white jig and light action spinning rod with no more than 6 lb test. This set up would allow for maximum distance on the cast, which is usually required when schoolers come up. There are a lot of lures that will work on schoolers, so I haven't thought about using the zig jig. Ham: I hear you on the creek smallies, as Quill pointed out the brown/orange jig should be good. Makes me want to load up the yak and hit the upper Kings River. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
dtrs5kprs Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 Marabou jigs will not catch bass at Table Rock. I only carry marabou, thread, and a vise with me to balance out one of my tackle totes in the truck. They definitely will not catch brown fish, especially not the gray ones.
Ham Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I guess the gray Marabou1/8 oz road runners I tie up won't get bit slow rolled in early spring either. Darn. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
