John W Kelly Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Anyone else see this deer swim across up by the cable yesterday (wed. 19th)? Poor thing had a bone sticking out of its leg. Must have gotten hit by a car... In other news, zero generation from 9-5, cloudy skies, and windy for the latter half of the day. The wind was blowing upstream, which still allowed for decent casts, but was often strong enough to blow the drift backwards in slower moving water. Lots of waves too. I still managed to land 29 fish , although most were only around 10", with only 6 or 7 approaching 15+".
WoundedOne Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 That is crazy. It's amazing how it was able to swim across like that. Nice pictures
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 20, 2014 Root Admin Posted February 20, 2014 Deer go to water when injured. Cold water must feel good to them.
Travis Swift Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I believe I may have seen that deer across from fall creek resort Thanksgiving morning. I watched it go in the water and drink then layed down awhile. It was struggling to walk to with a broken leg.
Jerry Rapp Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Taneycomo should be shut down to all public access until that poor deer survives.
John W Kelly Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 and give it a name, like "Bam!-Be".
laker67 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Taneycomo should be shut down to all public access until that poor deer survives. We will trap her and transport her to your lake.
mjk86 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 UGH I hate to see that. I always feel bad when one gets wounded and doesnt die. Poor critter should be put out of its misery, too bad the seasons over.
rainbow Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 We had a buck like that on our farm in the 2012 season. I called the MDC agent in our county and asked him if we should shoot it. after describing what it was doing he left it up to us but said many times they heal and adapt to the injury. Months later we got that deer on our camera and he was nice and fat and growing a new rack. During last years rut he was out chasing the ladies so the agent was right after all. They are resilient animals and will either survive or perish without our help.
