Anybody can get Pizza at Pizza Hut. I like to hit the Chinesse buffets because it is more difficult to find Pizzas. When I get a Pizza in Chinatown it just means more to me.

Why would anybody wanna go to a lake full of big bass???

Congrats to your father on a fish of a lifetime and a memory that will be cherished as any double digit bass should be.

Rain barrels, managed C&R lakes, or the Kings in springtime. Fun is fun. Period.

^----THIS. Who gives a crap if it is easier to catch them in a managed lake? So if I offered to take anyone here to a southern, California or Mexican managed lake full of 10-20lb'ers you would stick you nose in the air and say that just isn't for you? Get real. Sure I enjoy a day slaughtering them on the Rock more than I would on a farm pond but anything pulling on the end of my line is a good time bar none. Table Rock or northern lakes just don't offer you the same opportunities as a southern lake does in respect to hooking a double digit pig. Can you get a 10'ber in TR....sure....but it is a LONG SHOT. You would have just as good a chance of hitting the lotto as thumping an 11lb bass.

Thanks for the kind response. I never expected to get so much criticism by posting one of the best stories of my life on here. I liked this forum because everyone seemed to be very supportive and always shared what they were doing. After reading some of the posts I got on here it was pretty disappointing. I rarely post on forums for this very reason. I just didn't expect to find the same kind of things here. My dad has been fishing table rock since 1970 and he's caught some big fish out of there. We would rather fish The Rock any day of the week, but sue me for wanting to take a special trip once in a while to a unique place and have at least a chance at catching a monster. I guess I don't view it any different than paying some guide 3000$ to take you Elk hunting on a mountain side that has trophy elk, or paying to fly to Canada to have a chance at catching a monster small mouth.

What ever happened to the saying - If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all? To those close minded fisherman out there, good luck to you.

I would give my left nut for an 11lbr anywhere right now. Nice fish. What's the guy supposed to do in an aluminum small boat? Guntersville would be tough in something that size. Glad you guys had fun. I love seeing pictures of big fish. You guys were enjoying it and sharing photos. Nothing wrong with that.

Yep, I agree with Thumbs, I like to hear fishing stories no matter where they're caught. Thankfully you didn't mention using an expensive rod/reel or baits that cost more than 99 cents. Those are other topics that can bring out the critics.

I appreciate you sharing your trip with us. I would absolutely love to catch a fish that size, and if there were one in my bathtub, I'd be going after him.

If catching big bass ain't your kinda thing, amen. More for me.

I understand that catching some good fish in El Salto doesn't exactly make me a pro, but Big wasn't portraying himself as KVD, just as a guy having a good time with his dad, catching huge bass. I commend you sir.

There are some rather large egos around here, but Hey aren't we all so much cooler on line..... Welcome to the internet, where 2 - 3 lbrs become 3 - 5 lbrs, a 6 and an 8, and the big one never gets away. and yes.... We all would have won that tournament....... if we'd entered it.

I need to double-check this...

fishing in a rain barrel. If that is what turns you on, so be it. I have fished many rain barrels over the years, just don't have a desire to do it anymore.

hmmm.....

managed = not natural. I am glad you enjoyed the catching. Any of us could catch them there. If that is what you want and spend your money on, go for it.

Yep, I guess he really did type that.

That wasn't very nice, Jerry.
