KVD, whether a person likes him or not, does a great job in commercials. Some of those Basspro commercials he does are funny. I like the one where he and another fisherman are fishing in the BPS aquarium. "It's OK, I know a guy."

I have both read (fans comments) and talked to a few folks and they all say that KVD is truly a cool fella. Stacey King said he had a real "hoot" making those BPS commercials. My favorite is the alarm clock. Look that up on Youtube for the out-takes. Those are better than the commercials!

There are some pros who can be a jerk. But most of the more famous ones are used to the attention and have risen above and learned to cope with the pressure and attention. Most no longer want the attention because it's a distraction and a hassle I'm sure (I'm guessing this anyway). It just seems to me that they handle it really well once you meet them in person. Most are always more than willing to sign something, talk to you, offer advice, take a photo, etc.

I asked Edwin Evers what his opinion was on jigs and jig trailers..........his response was priceless!

"Man I don't know..........I just tie on a jig and throw it. If it isn't green pumpkin or black, I usually just experiment and let the fish tell me. I don't get too caught up on the color patterns".

(honest answer and smiling when he said it) :-)

Watch out, Dave. You can't go hatin' on folks like that. It's not PC.

And you can't be rootin' only for the finesse fishermen coz that's discriminatory, and it's a short step from there to hate.

Actually, I think they should stop fishing for money because it only encourages bad behavior and negative emotions. For Pete's sake, what if KVD doesn't make the cut? We can't have him driving back to Michigan believing he's a LOSER!

I suggest they just fish for funsies and when it's all said and done, everyone gets a certificate and a little dashboard-sized trophy to gaze at on the drive home.

Socialism. It's the new democracy!

Shoot thanks to the little rig I get to eat hate and venom for breakfast throughout the spring.

I'd be fine if Swindle and Ike managed to get tossed also. They should limit entries to White River events to the quiet types...Klein, Davis, etc. Folks who know how to behave in public and don't make spectacles of themselves.

Anyway, little participation medals are cheaper than trophies, and everyone can reenact the ceremony scene from Star Wars.

Have you guys who don't like Brandon Palaniuk met him, or talked with him in person. Maybe you would have a different opion. As far as the fair haired boy...Bass may look to those who have a lot to offer the sport...well spoken, not a loud mouth, seems to be family oriented, and he works hard at the craft. He's only been on one cover of Bass Masters that I have seen....some of the others seem to have the edge on being fair haired. The whole Bassmasters is getting just a little too WWF for me anyway. I just love fishing and would like to see more of the tournament conducted as they were a few years back. Those tournaments on blind lakes showed who the real fishermen were.

It doesn't matter. Some old timers on here just have it out for us younger generation of anglers, especially ones who have success at fishing apparently. This isn't the first time I've been jumped on here just because I'm part of the younger generation. Some of these older guys on here need to grow up IMO. Many of them are hypocrites. This thread is a great example. Old guy gets upset because young guy disagree's with him. Young guy apologizes for misunderstanding and old guy still continues ranting about stuff that has nothing to do with the original post that upset him. It get's old and sometimes makes me wish I wasn't part of this forum. However, I am open minded enough to realize that it's only a few that get under my skin at times so I just move on and conitinue posting reports and talking fishing with the ones that aren't pricks.

Seth, as you claimed to be earlier with your "haters" comment, I was making a joke about cutting the money out. And I sure didn't stoop to calling off-color names. Some of us old-timers have more class than that.

Martens gets a ton of coverage, for one. More than Palaniuk, I think.

I'm sure a lot of these guys are great in person, just wish they would all conduct themselves with more composure and professionalism. There are anglers who come off like Peyton Manning (and I actually do hate him, at least in the sports sense of the word, but he is a model of professionalism), and others who manage to act like diva wide receivers. Not necessarily referring to Palaniuk. He actually took the DQ up north pretty well. Can think of a couple who probably would have gone to snapping rods.

One of my favorite BASS tmts was when they went to a TN River lake, might have been Pickwick, and an old boy whacked them slow swimming a smoke grub for brown fish, while sitting down the whole time. Was probably 15 years ago or so.

I'm an "old guy" and I like Palaniuk, I hope he does well. Not all old guys think alike, and neither do young guys. And that's a good thing. People that don't follow the herd tend to be more interesting than those that do.

Well said. I here the comments about too WWE and other stuff. I'm one of the guys that likes the show. People have opinions. They are always ready and willing to share theirs.

I personally feel BASS is trying to grow the sport and appeal to new generations to grow the sport. Nothing wrong with that.

People that don't like how BASS handles things probably don't like Zona or GMan. Gerald is a class act. Crazy ole country boy from Bama. Funny personality is entertaining. So is Zona. It's entertainment. There are a lot of folks that like the antics. It appeals to multiple generations and offers a little humor. Otherwise, it could be like watching golf if everyone looked like Jeff Dunham's "Walter". Lol

I would think Stacey King has a real shot. Maybe he doesn't fish Bassmaster though. He had a good showing at one of the tourneys a few years ago. Come to think of it maybe that was FLW.

I am a big fan of Palaniuk, Evers, and Swindle. I hope any three of them get the chance to win but would love to see Swindle get a win. The poor guy needs a pick me up after the Guntersville showing he had and i think he's due for a win. I've had the privilege to meet Gerald a couple of times and he has always been a class act. All three are great guys and there are many other great guys on the tour that I am looking forward to watching next weekend!
