fishingaddiction Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Can't get enough of Ned.....huh Dave? Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Feathers and Fins Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 recently tried one of the slick flickers, after just a couple fish bites and a few hours in the water the paint was already coming off... maybe I got a bad one idk. Bad one, I have several now that have had numerous stripers and whites on and except for some hook replacements still looking good for the abuse I put them through. Worse color for showing damage IMO is any of the Blues, followed by the speckled shiner but I cant 100% fault them I do tend to try and break rocks with them and remove timber. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
dtrs5kprs Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Don't know how you all troll without losing your minds. Hard enough to keep baits out of things without the motor running.

There really is a little more to it than just throwing a bait out as far as you can and putting the motor in gear.
J-Doc Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Don't know how you all troll without losing your minds. Hard enough to keep baits out of things without the motor running. Honestly, I can't fish for bass like I used too. Too boring. If I am not catching, I get bored really quick. WIth trolling, it can be a methodical process and you're watching the graph/chart constantly. It keeps you busy. Yes, you can lose some baits if trolled shallow. You just chalk it up as a loss if it doesn't pop loose and reel in the line and tie on another if it snaps off. If trolling with two rods, you still have one in the strike zone. I still bass fish "normally" but not nearly as much as I used too. As it was taught to me, trolling finds active fish. Once found, you can stop and pick them apart with other methods. Trolling also tells you what the fish are relating to, what depth you can find them in, etc. I find it even more difficult to just blindly roll up to a cove and start fishing a few docks, points, etc. I have no idea if there are fish there or not and typically, there are not enough active fish there for me to mess with. If I have a target depth and some sort of pattern I know fish are relating to, I can select my target areas and depth and then I usually find fish. If I know they are there and see them on the graph, I can fish till I get a bite and not get bored. It's watching a blank graph that sends my ADHD into orbit now. Surgeon General's Warning: Trolling can be habit forming and is bad for your wallet. :-) Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! Before I knew what it was............................I thought that exact same thing. Now i know its the same as fishing with a rod. You're just using the boat/motor as the reel. :-) Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. powerdive Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Everybody's looking for a "magic bait." Despite what the tackle companies will tell you (and I know, because for years I was the one writing that stuff), there is no such thing. Darn near every crankbait, and every color, will catch fish. It's more about when, where and how, than what. However, the Flicker Shad is a quality bait with an appealing action, at a good price, and one of the few that just about anyone can count on catching some fish with. If you've never tried one, you should.
Bird Watcher Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Don't know how you all troll without losing your minds. Hard enough to keep baits out of things without the motor running. I think the same thing when I read about people fishing A rigs and float and fly rigs. I would lose my mind doing that nonsense. Then again, if you would see what I put myself through to catch and keep live shad at the house you would probably think i'm ready for the asylum. One man's trash is another man's flicker shad or something like that.
