OldMillRoad Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I have been dragging the Pig Sticker "pig rig" around for several years, although mostly in the summer months. Have used baby brush hogs, 10" worms, and trick worms. Like trophy, they will not catch any fish. A lot of different craw style baits will work, but you had better be prepared to lose some as they get stuck in the chunk rock. Swimming them along the bottom might be the better deal, and would not hang up as much. Now Tim, you know the fish don't eat any drag or swim bait that resembles a mud bug in our drink. Davis just had a freak occurrence.
Alex Heitman Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Biffle uses that every tournament. I have not seen him use anything different. They could be whacking them on something else and he still would use that hardhead with a bug. He was using it again this tournament.

Quillback Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 That's a good price. And they have them down to 1/8th. Put a Finesse worm on the 1/8th or a Fish Doctor, I bet you'd catch fish.
gitnby Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 Tommy Biffle? An absolute jerk! Nearly hit me and my Son while he was trying to cut through Pt 7 at WOTduring the high water in 2011. He pulled up just yards from us and another boat that was fishing the cut on the South side. He motored by us and I asked, "What's up with that"? He mumbled something about "I thought you were further down the bank"?. Not an apology, nothing! He then looked straight ahead, ignored us and then gunned it again 20 yards after he passed us. It was a VERY dangerous move, and scared the crap out of us and the 2 guys in the other boat. All to save maybe a minute to go around Pt 7? I should add that it was mid-morning, clear day. I reported it the PAA, got a form-type reply about safety concerns and never heard back from them or Mr Biffle.

bluebasser86 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Since I picked this mold up last fall it's become one of my favorite rigs to fish. I love being able to customize the head and hook to the bait/situation I'm fishing. The 3/8oz with a 4/0 VMC HD EWG hook is my favorite for a majority of stuff. I made some of the little 1/8 and 3/16 ounce sizes with 2/0 EWG Gammy's. Let me tell you, those little heads with a small beaver bait (I was using a pit boss jr) is one of the best looking craw imitations I've ever seen. The hinged action when you hop it off the bottom really looks like a craw trying to flip away from the fish. I caught several with that rig last Friday around Baxter but they were hitting a jerkbait way too good for me to fish it very long
Donna G Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 In watching the video I noticed Mark would vary the speed of his retrieve. It was never really fast, but he would slow down to a crawl and then pick up the pace a bit. Champ188 picked up some air craws for me recently. Wanted to try them as a jig trailer. Wonder how they would work with this presentation? I like the suggestion of the Paca craw. Those things have some wicked action. dtrs5kprs Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 One little trick on those is adding some shrink tubing to the hook to make a punch type keeper. That and a little glue will keep away the crazy caused by the bait pulling down. If you are making your own, you can use a punch hook instead of the EWG.
