willyfish Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 I get kinda picky about fishing line. I'm looking to try something new for my spinning reels. Anyone have any thoughts, what about Maxima?
rps Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Tackle Tour uses Maxima as the gold standard against which it measures all hybrids and flouro lines. That says it all. I use Yozuri Hybrid which does test at a higher level and is cheap.
Members DerekB Posted April 30, 2014 Members Posted April 30, 2014 I use Maxima on my UL rigs. One has 4 lb. and the other has 2 lb. for those finnicky trout at Bennett Springs.
jmes Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I went to the Floro that they make. It has been very strong and durable
96 CHAMP Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 i used maxima for years but went to nanofil, put cheap mono on first and walk out about 40 yards of it cut it and splice the nanofil to it. i love it, no more twisted loops in the line, used it crappie fishing at loz, now going to try it out bass fishing
Ham Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Nanofil. You really don't need to throw less than 8 lb maybe the 10 lb or 12 lb. 10 lb Nanofil has the diameter of about 4 pound diameter mono. Alberto in your leader of choice. I'm begging somebody to tell me why I should use a fluro leader instead of mono. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Old plug Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I have used Pro bass Excel for years and cannot find anything wrong with it. Its good stuff with good price.

We were fishing pretty lite and that stuff ccaught the air like a kite. it skated the 1/8 to 1/4 oz baits to the point my client put down his rod and picked up one of mine with Maxi on it. It changed his day. Said he was done with the fil especially if there was any wind. Guys, Maxima is not broken and does not need fixin. It is the best mono on the market and has been for more years and 10's of thousands of fish for this old fishin guide. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Was like those floating cobwebs you see just drifting around. I like straight Invizx fluoro or BPS Excel on spinning reels. One is cheap, the other not so much.
Ham Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Hey Bill, I'm sorry your guy had a tough time with the wind and Nanofil. There was a simple solution. Drop your rod tip and let the line lay on the water. The Nanofil will act as a strike indicator. You still get to cast further, have the extra sensitivity, and easy hook sets from anywhere. Yes, the wind was very annoying Tuesday. It affected every bait I cast with every combo, but it did NOT prevent me from catching most of my 28 fish on Nanofil. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
