fishingaddiction Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Oh, well. It was veiled. LOL Good report Sprint. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Jason Essary Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Sprint. Fished the Meeks as well. We hunted for non spawners all day as I hate nest fishing. Had around twenty keepers but never could find quality fish either. Champ188 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Been having the same issue, Jason. I've had several 50-plus fish days targeting the non-spawners and can catch 12-13 pounds pretty easily but topping 15 lbs is darn near impossible for me.
Sprint21fter Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 Jason, I don't bed fish on our lakes up here. Unless they act like those two that I found on Wednsday. Anytime I have attempted to bed fish they run off and don't come back. Im sure bed fishing takes its toll on fish but it doesn't appear to hurt the population as long as these tournaments have been fishing during the spawn over the years. These fish are more skittish than any other fish that I have fished for. I have been fortunate to fish some lakes in Texas and Florida and when them suckers down there go to spawning you can pull up to them and watch em for a while throw a bait over there and they will either eat on the first cast or stare at for a while until you find the magic little spot on the bed. I imagine its our clear waters and lake fluctuations here. The lakes down south for the most part fish shallow and the water doesn't fluctuate as much as it does up here.

I hate it if the phone even rings when I talk the Mrs into nesting......but if you used bacon for bait I might be tempted Tim Carpenter
balsabee Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 What sized redfin do you guys usually throw? One that looks like this....
Bill Babler Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 That picture looks real familiar. Don't be postin stuff like that, it will get someone hurt or worse yet get their equipment all busted up I'm such an idiot I was looking at that picture, thinking "DANG" that guy really knows how to set-up a fin, what in the "Holy Leap Year" are they posting that kind of a pic of such a quality bait for. OK. You got me. On another note, and all take heed! you throw that bait with those hooks on that set-up you be as careful as if you are on this planet alone, as those hooks will get you hurt if your not on your best careful behavior. The hooks on that bait want you more than they want the fish. If they touch you they are in you they are extremely deadly and to tell you the truth, they scare the begeezers out of me every time I have to handle them. If white bass start schooling take this to even a higher level, as they will put you in the emergency room for sure if your not extremely respectful at all times. Balsa you ole Stinkweed for messing with me like that. Good LUck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
