Did you report this to LEO or the animal control folks? I'd do it just to get it on record. I'd also find out what the law says about the legal implications of someone protecting their property, children etc., from vicious dogs entering their property. If you've got kids, this dog is a real threat.

Yes, after I reported it the whole neighborhood came forward and contacted me. The LEO/animal control agent got about 6 statements form others who have had issues. She said after she approaches the homeowner...which should be today, that 90% of the time the homeowner turns over the dog. If you submit a claim against their homeowners policy they will drop their insurance like a hot potato.

Is it a male pit bull that still has his balls. Even my little Boykin when he encounters another intact male likes to fight and always loses. Many intact males are aggressive toward other dogs so they really must be watched.

I think it depends on how they are raised. The problem with aggressive breeds from a shelter, especially pits, is that you don't know their early treatment. This dog could have been taught to be aggressive by it's first owner.

My dog is half Rott and some chow and I've had him since he was 3 months old. All of his "punishment" has been oral and he shows no aggression toward any creature. He will chase cats and deer out of the yard, but that's as far as he goes. He has jumped 1 dog in 10 years and that was a strange Shepard that ran at me.

I think if they aren't allowed to be aggressive, but are disciplined without physical pain they grow into friendly dogs.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Too bad for your dog and your wallet....Surprised that the owner hasn't put that dog down yet. No grudge against pits or any other breed of dog, but you have to take responsibility for your pet, spend time with them, and train them. Heck, my step-mom got mauled by her schnoodle a couple months ago...almost lost a couple fingers. She never trained or spent any time with that dog...should not have had it in the first place.

Both dogs involved are females...ironically they are both named "Chloe".

I personally have no use for a pit bull. I think they all should be put down. Sound harsh? Every stinking person I have known that has had one all say the same thing, "he's such a baby and would never hurt a flea, I don't know what got into him when he mauled your kid, dog, whatever"! I am truly a dog lover, but just don't see the need for this breed whatsoever. Just my opinion and you can bash if you want. Of all the dog breeds out there this is the one that we all hear about when there is an attack. Some of these people I know DID NOT mistreat the dog or teach it to be badass. I think they are just wired for violence.
