dwiebenga Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I have started using Power Pro Braid (green) in 15lb test and a 4-6 lb 6-8foot floor leader. Takes care of the twist issue
Quillback Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 It works. I did watch it get flat run over in terms of bites by fluorocarbon last week. Switched my daughter's spool out midway through with one of my extra 6# Invizx spools one day and she went from zero to hero. Invizx is great stuff, handles like mono, you don't get the stiffness and springiness you get with regular floro on spinning gear.

Think troubles with fluoro on spinning reels come from cheap line, small reels, running too heavy of test. Used to hear a lot about how you could run bigger fluoro because it did not show up, and other reasons. Can only imagine how many people tried that out by running 10# line on reels built for 6#.
garyw Posted June 24, 2014 Author Posted June 24, 2014 Thanks for all the input. guess i'll string one with nanofil and try it. i saw the rod holder from bass pro, just wasn't too impressed with it. was hoping for other options. thanks again.
Pepe Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I also like the Nanofil line but if you are in a breeze it requires a sidearm cast that keeps the line close to the water. The Nanofil is light as a feather and will blow a bow in your line before it settles to the water if you make a looping cast.
Members innova Posted June 25, 2014 Members Posted June 25, 2014 I use yellow power pro 5 lb with a 10 ft leader of 6 lb floor leader attached with an Albright knot.
Sac River Jim Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 i landed a 6.5lb drum on an ultralight with 4lb seagar flouro the other day crappie fishing i think its pretty good flouro. i bought some sufix seige mono real cheap the other day at BPS Outlet to use as backing but i noticed it was pretty limp so i spooled a couple reels up with 6lb clear and i used it saturday and really liked it. I agree with champ the BPS Excel is hard to beat but i like the flouro with 1/16 oz and lighter jigs because i can get them deeper, faster cause flouro sinks.
moguy1973 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Are crappie line sensitive? If not I would think any 15lb braid (4lb mono diameter equivalent) should work great and not have memory. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Terrierman Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I am a big fan of 4 lb Maxima on my spinning rigs.
