They used to run those wave runners about 20 years ago, but for some reason stopped the deal. They were doing a safety inspection check point at the bridge. Now of days they have to try and stop every single boat to check for safety equipment if they stop one. Of course they would also check for any other violations.

That was probably their big presence for the entire weekend.

I did however get stopped by them today in front of Indian point. They were stopping all the bass boats with 3 people on board in regards to thefts that were occurring this very morning.

I visited a minute with the officer that stopped me and we were talking about theft on the Rock. He said, unfortunately he has gotten very callus about the theft from boats and docks. He said it is completely out of control no matter how many people they arrest, and that anyone that would even leave a thumb tack in a boat, not to mention any type of ski, fishing equipment or a tool is a complete idiot, and the total problem.

He went on to say that we dock owners are the problem and we could be the cure. Do not leave anything on your dock or in your boat at anytime for any time. Even if you have a lockable container on the dock, do not store anything in it. I guess last week over 100 dock storage boxes were popped and the property was stolen. They were popping them this morning.

The unattended docks and boats are an attractive nuisance and pretty much a supermarket for thieves. He went on to say that right now it is at an incredible all time high. They are even stealing boats or dropping the outboard and making off with it.

I'm sorry but I think the water patrol and sheriff are doing the best they can for a lake the size of Table Rock with all of the docks. It would take an army of deputies to be able to catch these thieves.

Well I'll have to agree on the dock owners being part of the problem. Their equipment is like dangling a carrot in front of an animal there are people that will grab that carrot instead of just looking at it and go on. I'll bet that there is not one of us and/or dock owner who would take their boat with all of their equipment loaded on board and park it downtown Springfield and leave it all week there unattended.... That is what the dock owners are doing with their boats and equipment parked in a stall and this is not a new problem. Now I am not justifying theft but you all know what kind of world it has become and there will always be someone who will take your hard earned money away from you if you dangle it out there and those numbers are growing everyday. Look at the overcrowding of our jails and prisons.. Our government is creating more of those looking for a hand out or what they can take, beg, borrow, or steal for a living or drugs......

Dope heads, thieves, over crowding. All reasons I think the victims should be more on the offensive. Not tough guy talk either. Thinning the herd and spreading fear all at once.

These crimes are very seldom solved by on water enforcement. There is just not enough law enforcement to work 24-7--365. Most of this is solved thru seeing where the merchandise is being sold weather it be on the internet or thru a fencing operation.

It is not always in the local area, and most often this type of stuff is solved by information or another crime that is not related to these thefts, but someone wanting to plea bargain something else.

Or most often by LUCK>

We already give the lowlifes 1/3 of our income every other Friday, then they come and take what little gear we can afford while we're sleeping so we can go back to work the next day and earn them some more money.

Champ.....ponder this...

1. We pay welfare benefits to millions that are unwilling to do the work they are qualified for or can't pass the requisite drug test

2. We use "undocumented workers" to do the jobs that welfare recipients get paid not to do

3. These welfare recipients and "undocumented workers" create a demand for social services that bankrupt our social welfare system

4. These welfare recipients and "undocumented workers" create a voting block along with other low information voters and social progressives that may soon easily win any election

5. The open southern border is inviting thousands more c oyotes into the hen house....and we will pay for their food housing clothing and college
