Unimog Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Not sure that TRL will catch LOZ. What makes ozarks so attractive is you can build so much closer to waters edge. It just depends on if the Coe will allow it.
Old plug Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 COE has nothing to do with LOZ and it would have been better if they did many years ago. You see the power company holds title to large expanses of land that years ago unscrupulous developers sold off to people as lake front lots. Now there is a big battle going on about it. There are homes businesses and everything else you can imagine on that ground that the company is now claiming rights too. Nobody realized thIs until a couple years ago.
Lvn2Fish Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Why launch at PB2? There are a dozen good ramps located between Shawnee Bend to Dam and the upper Gravi.... if you want to fish the Northshore to Gravois area. All those extra miles are better placed upon your land vehicle. As for the roughfish, I'd say that gar are overpopulated in most bodies of water.....but before I can declare that I have to look at how overpopulated the shad are. I think we need all the help we can get as far as keeping the shad in check. Too mu h food in the water is not a good thing. There needs to be a balance, so as fun as it seems to me I cant get behind bowfishing just for the sake of shooting practice or "scores". I'm sure there's a way to anchor underwater targets if that's all it is about. Kinda like 3-D bow shoots. Killing living critters just for the hell of it with no purpose or science indicating that it needs to be done is freaking sick! I make an exception to ticks, monkeys and spiders however. Nvr mind wrench.... I know of the ramps down by the dam. Just saying go to Loz if you think table rock is crowded

Unimog Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 I meant as far as if the Coe allows more dock/ marina permits on trl or if they slow it down.
Bill Babler Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 As far as who is crowded and who is not, between LOZ and the Rock and I'm speaking from experience, with our family owning a resort on LOZ and being a Water Patrol Officer up there for 6 years, the two bodies of water are completely different in the way they handle boat and fishing traffic. The Rock for the most part is a main lake fishery with the best and most used portion being the White River channel. It neither has the arms or coves that LOZ has and its major activity is in the gut of the White River. Boating and water sports along with the fishing occur in a much more defined area than on LOZ. I can fish LOZ on a holiday weekend and get away from traffic, simply by fishing areas that the majority of the larger boats must idle in and really it is just to tight for them to operate. Also the fishery is much, much different in the fact that LOZ is a LM fishery for the most part and they occupy different water than our fish do here on the Rock. With man made structure on LOZ to the extent that it is most impossible to fish it all in a life time and the existence of the very good fishing from Hurricane Deck up the River clear to Warsaw, there is most of the time someplace to tuck in and fish. On the Rock, not so much as we do not have that structure, ie docks and we certainly don't have a lot of water that keeps out the larger watercraft. It is hard really to compare the two. Both great fisheries, and both with lots of folks enjoying them in the Summer. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
abkeenan Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 The only difference between LOZ and TR is mainly that TR is younger. Being a city boy you might not understand the workings of septic systems. Without going into a long explanation septic sytems drain into the ground and onces it is in there it can and will travel for miles pollution the ground water. In the case of lakes build in hills it will go down from the systems located on the hill and through pressures be forced up in to the lake. It os. happening now on table rock. That 300 ft buffer means nothing. affuents will travel right thru it in the rocky quafers. The answer is full sewers everywhere. Here on LOZ in Morgan county we have the Morgan county sewer district. They are putting more and more momes on there system. When mine went on they had put 500 homes I think it was on the system in one year. So we have effort to get that under control. As far as traffic. TR is voing to catch up with LOZ. You can bet on it. Just a matter of time and age. Even a "city boy" can see the difference in the water quality with the naked eye. Then take "city boy" e.coli studies into account in which you would be better off drinking the water off the streets of Calcutta than to jump in the water at LOZ within 10 miles of party cove. Heaven forbid eat a fish that swims in that cesspool of a lake. I'll pass and take my city slicker behind a little further south to Table Rock instead.
Old plug Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 really I hope you do. tell your friends about it also.

The watersheds have more to do with water quality in Truman and LOZ vs Beaver, Table Rock and Bull Shoals, though you are right to be concerned about poor treatment from inadequate septic systems.
REDSOXWSCHAMP Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 LOZ vs. TR 2014!!!! LOZ to your corner, TR to your corner when the bells rings come out swinging!!
