nomolites Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 When I moved to LOZ, I bought and had installed a device called a Loc-A-Bar to the front compartments of my bass boat where I store all my tackle. It is a bar across the boat that cannot be removed and makes entry into the storage compartments impossible. I will admit that I have not had any theft issue, or other, after two years at Parkside Place Condo. I love having the bass boat on a lift in a 30' long slip where it stays dry all the time.
nomolites Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Made my own loc-r-bar and it is on when I am not down. Never had a problem but don't want one either.
ness Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Now I'm suspicious of everyone. I've been here in KC all weekend! John

Jerry Rapp Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 if a thief sees a Loc R Bar on a boat in a slip, he knows that the next boat over without one will be a much easier target. They use to be $500 or so, but may cost more now. But if you have 10+ rod/reels combos, $3000+ of tackle, life jackets, etc. in storage boxes in the boat, the Locrbar is worth it in my opinion.
Members dsigmon Posted July 28, 2014 Members Posted July 28, 2014 PEOPLE COVET WHAT THEY SEE MOST OFTEN - this is not an original saying, but this saying is the start of all investigations that work most of the time - people watch and see opportunity - talk to those close by and sit and watch at times. You will be surprised.

You're right. It is called a Loc R Bar and it cost me about $500 installed. I only protect my tackle and have had no problems so far with theft. My tackle costs more than the other items that could be easily removed, unless locked, from my boat. The storage compartment locks are not real sturdy.
