huntest Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I received my Duo Realis Spybait order from TW this afternoon and honest guys they were $13.99 each. I ordered both the Spinbait 80 and the Spinbait 80 G-Fix versions in several colors.....thought you might like to see a direct comparison in the same color. G-Fix does seem somewhat heavier. I plan to give these a thorough test this fall and winter on 8lb Invisix.
balsabee Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Question....Does it need the props on it to be effective or can they be removed? I've never thrown a regular stick bait with props. What purpose does it serve? In extreme clear water you wouldn't think you would need the extra attraction.
huntest Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I am happy with the colors I ordered. The Emperor is similar to GG IllusionTennessee Shad from Megabass Table Rock Indigo looks good as does their Pro Blue Ghost and Ghost Pearl. Call me an optimist but I have a good feeling about this ?
5bites Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 The props add resistance so they can be reeled slowly without them sinking.
5bites Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Here's a terrible pic of the ghost pearl I received.
Sac River Jim Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 i picked up the lucid wakesagi and the pearl 80's up at sportsman factory outlet on thursday. i hooked the lucid up to the boo rig and throwed it a few times on a flat in 23 fow. i caught a short small jaw and a short lm on it but i was fishing a tourney on stockton and went back to a big worm and a spro little john pretty quick. using the boo rig i was able to use 6'10''ml jerkbait casting rod on 8lb floro. i could cast it farther and fish it deeper faster but im not convinced im not loosing the action it was designed for. im going to wait till it cools down a little and mike and i are going to devote a day chasing schooling fish on shad. i want to compare it both the recommended way vs on the boo rig.
Sac River Jim Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 throwed the 80 again today this time i had time to experiment with it. i throwed it on and off the boo rig with about the same results. sadly to say i had the same results everyone else is reporting. lots of strikes, very few hook ups and i managed to put one short crappie in the boat and lost three bass of no size to speak of. i tried two different spinning rods, a 6'6'' med lews laser sl a 6'10'' ml laser rod.both with 6lb p line. i think i'll stick with the longer ml rod. throwed it around docks over brush piles and humps bluff ends i throwed it parallel to the bluff targeted suspended fish and throwed it just underneath huge schools of shad. i used a steady retrieve i paused it and i raised it and let it flutter back down. i'm not giving up on it but if anyone has a technique thats working i sure would like to hear about it. ive got some size 4 kdv triple grips i guess i'll try next on them.
Quillback Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Those hooks that come with it must be too small, I'm going to try some Daiichi #6.
Ham Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 sadly to say i had the same results everyone else is reporting. lots of strikes, very few hook ups I'm also thinking that a lot of the missed strikes are panfish that are striking the bait and their mouth is too small to eat the lure well. Several of the crappie and bluegill I have caught have been hooked outside the mouth. Larger hooks are not going to help that, but it might fix losing the keeper bass I have hooked and lost in the past. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
