I just reread this thread and just really have to sit here and ask this question?

This is a State Park do you get that? A place that is suppose to be safe and friendly for everyone, Yet they KNOW that activities about to happen will offend people enough they posted the sign. YOU WOULD NEVER see this at a public park, or downtown event as the police would be hauling them off to jail wholesale fashion.

Agree 100 percent.

Ludicrous that this is allowed at a state park.

River hours 9 am to 6 pm, I like that, not great for fishermen, but we could eat dinner as a family every night!

UM Justin you have sold me on the fact that I do NOT want a permit system if I have to be off the water by 6:00 or can't access until 9:00 screw that....things are fine the way they are :have-a-nice-day:

I truly hope that most of the fisherman here do know that the best fishing on any river is where an outfitter does not service....I don't use outfitters and have not used one in a long time.....can it be a pain in the butt??? sometimes but, the fishing is better and the serenity is better. I just learned never buy a river property where an outfitter services the river.....lesson learned on my part. For all the freaks on here that want to float with the party floaters and see some titties and tattos go to the Black River and float from Lesterville to the first smiley face on any weekend during the summer season. It's a straight up freak show....the Black has no restrictions on the amount of beer per boat, jello shots ect,ect....that the other rivers in Missouri do......but I will give the outfitters in that area credit as they have stopped putting boats in after 1:00pm I think now to help curtail the debauchery. Just as I stated above there is a section in the middle of the corridor that outfitters don't put people in on....only about a three to four mile section and what do ya know???? it's by far the best fishing on the river.

In the summer, on the weekends, the rivers are busy. Some of them really busy. From Mon-Fri they aren't. The same can be said for our lakes.

Seems the answer is obvious, don't go on the weekends especially if one of these events is going on.

I utilize the exact same strategy....wherever the canoe rentals leave off is where I go. I don't know how much it effects the fish (to be fair, most party floaters are incapable of catching a longear sunfish, let alone a smallmouth bass) but they sure do ruin everything else.

Canoe rentals are hit and miss in terms of whether they have any sense of ethics or not. There are clearly disgraces like the place that is running the Bullcrap Float though, and plenty of others that legitimately love the river and care about it. But bottom line is most would not ever consider turning a potential floater down for any other reason than the river is flooded or they're out of canoes. Even those with the best of intentions are never going to look at the river and say, there's already enough canoes on it, sorry you're gonna have to come back tomorrow. It's a business, and it's one that hurts those of us who don't either make money off it or utililize them.

Not that I ever want canoe rentals to go away, but at a certain point some compromises will need to be made so they don't have full ability to ruin the rivers for everybody else three months out of the year. A permit system might just be that answer, at least on some rivers. But I am of the opinion that the current state of affairs is untenable for anyone that loves our rivers as anything more than a conveyer belt for a portable party sled.

What I find interesting is that Amazement parks ( some sell alcohol ) Concert venues ( do sell alcohol ) City Parties/fest with alcohol and so many other events all seem to be ran fine some daily with none of the crap you see on our rivers. Can someone answer me why all those venues can happen with alcohol and people having good times and for ALL AGES, yet our rivers and streams cant do it for 2 hours on a weekend?
