Bassmaster21 Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Headed out to the lake in the morning to bass fish. since school has started havent been able to be out on the water much. Whats the fishing been like? How do you think these back to back cool days will effect that? I can only fish early, 6:15-10:15 before I have to go to work. I plan on throwing a lot of topwaters. Any advice?
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Stick to your plan no telling what a couple cool days will bring. I think everyone is wondering the same thing. I sure am. If top waters don't pay off, they bite jigs all year. Time will tell. Good luck
fishinwrench Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Transition periods are typically tough on reservoirs, even though it feels like a whole new season to YOU it takes awhile for any noticeable changes in "the bite". That upper layer of warm water serves as a very effective buffer even during a drastic cold rainy period. We haven't seen anything close to a "Norther" blow in yet.
Lvn2Fish Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Stick to your plan, the rain and cooler temps have cooled the backs of coves a couple of degrees. This fish are starting to chase bait pretty good. The cool temps haven't affected deeper water so be sure and stay shallow! I was there today and had a decent day. All on top water.
Sac River Jim Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 ive got a pretty fair buzz bait bait going parallel to a shaded bluff/channel swing and target lay downs.
Unimog Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I was fishing brush today in 20-30' and caught a 6 and a 4. Those are the two biggest bass I've caught at Stockton. Heard there was a 7-2 caught in the tournament out of Orleans trail yesterday.
Lvn2Fish Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 There was actually two caught, I fished that tournament on saturday. One was 7.32 other was 7.31. They were nice fish for sure.
Unimog Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Any buzz around the weigh in on what kind of pattern the top finishers were on? Those are absolute hogs for Stockton in the summer IMHO.
Lvn2Fish Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 sounds like the same pattern you fished . Deep Brush. I went shallow all day and had a great day. Believe me or not but we caught about 30-35 keepers. Had 15 keepers before 7:30. But those fish are all the same size about 2 pounders. We were lucky enough to get two fish over three in about 2 ft of water. We ended up with 13.40 good enough for 13th for a nice little paycheck.
