The way I use a wart (beating along the bottom and crashing off dock cables I'm just thinking old/new doesn't matter. So I'd just as soon trade the old ones off and replace with new ones that are in the color pattern I actually use.

The only wart I ever throw is the one called "brown craw" that actually looks red. But I have a bunch that are other colors just sitting in a box in storage.

Some I know are originals cuz I've had them for decades, some are "suspending warts" and some are shorts.

I just really have no use for them, so if anyone wants to trade some new style "brown craw" warts for some Original's in other colors I'd do it.

Heck I'd do that. You'd be wasting $ though. Put your old ones up for sale on the swap and sell boards here and you should get 20-30 bucks each or maybe more depending on color and condition. You could buy 10 new warts in the color you like for 1 pre-rapala wart in a craw pattern you are never going to use.

OK that sounds even better. Are the Suspenders and the Shorts in high demand as well ?

Thx

The wiggle warts are the only models that go for nice chunks of change. If they are suspenders it doesn't matter and are the same price as regular. Some of the suspenders go for a lot because they have some of the more rare color patterns in the craw colors like the SPV 90 Missouri Craw and other SPV craw patterns that go for $50-100+ each. Short warts, flat warts, etc aren't really in demand but you can get almost 4 or 5 bucks each or so for them. Wee warts go for a little more than though.

So it's all in the stamp on the underside of the bill ? That's frustrating, some of mine are custom painted so I guess there's no way to confirm ?

Fishinwrench - One other way to tell is the thickness and shape of the bill... Pre Rapala warts have a noticeably thinner bill that is more cupped... The newer ones are thicker and have a flatter bill. The newer ones also have a raised line that goes from one side of the bill to the other up where the bill meets the body of the bait. Kind of hard to explain but once you see it, it's pretty obvious. I have custom painted ones as well and this is how I can tell the difference. Hold one you know is old and one you know is new at the same time... You can tell a difference

Yes, for sure Wrench sell them on the big boards. BBC board lures for sale has had a bunch of originals on sale going for a minimum of $20. If they have "Wiggle Wart' written on the underside of the bill, those are the ones that are the "old" version.

you can get serious dough for the suspenders,

the shorts will sale north of $10 apiece as well

dont undervalue these baits, people are obsessed with pre-raps

Ive even sold some wee warts & pee wee warts lately. $10 apiece

Personally, I think its the rattle,

The older ones have a lead one knocker type sound & the new ones are steel BB's.

It doesnt sound like a big deal, but you can tell the difference,
