Guest Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I've got to actually catch some wart fish before I allow myself to consider buying additional any of the new colors. I destroyed the big smallmouth on a 20 year old wart last sunday, in Oklahoma

I don't know why I struggle with it, but I do. I need to improve my skill set with the wart. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Guest Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 You need a rod/reel/line combo thats suited to the wiggle wart. I bought a Falcon Lowrider Mansfield Special, it will launch a small crankbait. Long casts are hard to acheive on most rods with such a light bait. Also, I burn the wiggle wart until it hits bottom. If the bait rolls up on its side, I try to tune it. If it cant be tuned, it goes in the junk pile of other dead crankbaits.
Champ188 Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I have a 7-3 Duckett medium cranking model that is perfect for the Wart. Combine that with 10-pound P-Line CXX mono and a Lew's Tournament Series reel and I can throw the thing practically out of sight. Rod has a perfectly soft tip that allows the fish to take the bait.

Champ, With your new avatar I can't take anything you say as fact. Looks like we are enemies til the dust has settled on Friday afternoon. Hopefully I'm having bacon and fried pork chops for dinner come Friday!
Champ188 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 We shall see. Couldn't beat our way out of a wet paper bag the last three seasons, then seems we finally turned the corner two weeks ago and have posted two straight shutouts. Both of those have been at home, though. I'd have to give you guys the upper hand right now but it's football and strange things can happen. Woo Pig Sooie!
denjac Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 I got 2 still in the package war eagle blades that says hogs win against mizzu. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. Champ188 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 I got 2 still in the package war eagle blades that says hogs win against mizzu. I hope you are right. I'd gladly lose that bet, although I think Bill could use some new War Eagles. Seems I recall something about a brand new mouse-colored one and a weather vane on top of a dock.
Guest Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Do ya'll believe the pre rapala models catch more fish than the new "original" wiggle wart? Im just curious, is this is an urban legend or does it really matter? It would be cool to experiment with 2 identical colors but different model wiggle warts, just lay both rods on deck & see what happens.

Champ what model rod is that Duckett. I have been looking for a good rod that will throw a small crankbait (WW) a country mile. What other rods have you guys had good experience with at throwing the WW.
