Had a fishing buddy, that had both of his ears cut off, taped his sunglasses to his head.... I wear a hat that protects my ears and eyes, sun screen various "fishing" shirts" BPS, Academy Columbia UA one spot took off my collar bone area do not want anymore. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on your prospective I look goofy no matter what I wear, function is more important than appearance for me.

You typically won't see me on the water without a neck buff, some sort of hat, polarized sunglasses, and a longsleve shirt. I really like the Columbia PFG button ups and their moisture wicking tech shirts (not sure what "model" they are). I still usually apply sunscreen to my arms, neck and face just incase.

I know the topic of polarized sunglasses gets pounded up and down by every fishing magazine and website out there, but they are honestly one of the most important items you can have on the water. Not only do they cut down the glare, but they protect your eyes from missed hooksets and your fishing buddy's backcast. I can think of at least two incidents where I could have potentially had some serious eye damage had I not been wearing sunglasses.

Cabelas Guide series is fantastic and if you bide your time, can be found on sale.

I guess I am either lucky or stupid. I absolutely love the feel of the sun on my skin. It breathes life into me. I hope I don't pay the ultimate price for it but I am simply not going to live an active outdoor life while hiding from the sunlight.

I only fish in the evenings most of the time from 6 till dark. Except in the spring season when I am out longer. I wear long sleeve fishing shirts from spring till late fall. I do a lot to try to protect myself from the sun. In spite of this every year when I go to see my dematoligist she freezes things and takes other things off. Im 75 and these problem with the skin did not start till I was in my 60's. She said as you age that is themain factor not the sun. I have had 3 or 4 skin cancers. It is something most of you will be faced with.

Wrench your younger. And sort of lucky too. But every summer you kind of get to the color of stained maple so be careful.

I am anal about skin protection because I've been burnt with blisters a few times. And that makes you say more prone to skin cancer.

I agree. I've been out too many times where I've missed an application of sunscreen and I've paid for it the next few days. This new UPF clothing makes things so much easier and safer. I too am super fair skinned and it doesn't take much for me to look like a lobster.

I'm real seriously consider getting some UPF long sleeve fishing shirts to wear this summer. My problem is when I turn red I'm already burnt to a crisp. Think I need a good wide brim hat too, my boundy hat just isn't cutting it not enough brim.

I have heard that Cabela's Guide Series being some of the best.

Im 44, have pale skin and been burned when I was young. I decided 5 years ago that I wont get another sunburn. Ever. There is great long sleeve UPF gear that you can wear in 100 degree heat that is less by weight than a t-shirt. Same with light weight pants. Wide brim hats are a must for the ears and nose. I plan to be doing this when I'm 80 yo. No chance of that if I'm dead.

I'll shill Cabelas for lots of stuff but especially their sun protective clothing.

I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.
