Has anyone observed the effect of a hot nail on a Zinker? I am wondering about making a bit of a channel for the collar.

get rid of the collar, problem solved.

look at the zman jigheads, no collar either.

Both versions, the big one and the finesse one.

Wrench...don't think anyone outside their loop really knows. I have heard and read all sorts of rumors, none of which entirely explain it.

I think a big couch or chair made out of it would be fantastic for the first weekend of college football or the NCAA tmt.

How is that stuff made anyway? I want a car made out of it!

OR AT LEAST THE BUMPERS. A band about 12 inches wide and 6 inches think would really reduce the workload at the body shops.

Like the line from The Blues Brothers. "This is glue. Strong stuff."

Only thing different when gluing it wet is it will get a little white discoloration where the glue is applied. Same happens if you glue one up and fish it before it completely dries. Actually looks kind of neat, sort of like a sick fish. Similar to the milky effect we try for with smoke grubs.

Pretty sure Mike is trying to make the elaztech eat his collared worm heads. It is a challenge making elaztech eat anything larger than a wire. Tends to spit it back at you.

You'll have better luck if you "oiled" your fingers rather than wet them. I try to have my stuff less wet when gluing it, but the Loc Tite still works on damp things. crazy.

I've never had a problem with discoloration doing it this way.

after I put the glue in between the 2 pieces, then I wet my thumb and forefinger with saliva and squeeze together.

Sometimes a little glue will ooze out the sides, in which case I just skim it off with finger and thumb.

If you're careful, it's pretty easy.

I do like the oil idea, though.

or maybe even fish formula?

If you're stuck with the collared heads, there are work-arounds.

Still, the best deal is no collar, and just glue it to the head. my little trick with snipping off the bulged end really makes that sucker stay on there!

Also, the collar-less heads put more weight forward, which makes the bait stand tall.

Free fall until contact with the bottom, can also shake the slack line while falling. Many takes occur on the initial fall. After bottom contact slight up and down motion with the rod tip just letting it hop along. Slow movements especially in cold water, but more jigging action/swimming motion and movement in warmer water. This time of year slower is usually better.

I've only tried this rig once for just a short time.  I lost 3 baits to snags.  What do you guys think of using a Slider brand crappie hook and Texas Rig it?

Yes. Stretching it and roughing it up causes the salt to release, opens up little holes in the body that let water in. This makes it much softer and the loss of the salt makes it float higher. Specific to the zinkerz, TRD, or fattyz. The shadz does not have salt, and some of the other new little baits are low or no salt. No reason to stretch those.

if the TRD was designed specifically for the Ned, then why did they put salt in it anyway?

Weedless heads are the deal in rocky lakes. It does TX rig pretty well if you are fishing ponds and grass. At TR and similar you will get the bullet weight, or pointy slider head wedged in between rocks in a hurry.

Buoyancy and fall rate, mostly. Salt also adds weight which makes it throw a little farther. That is probably an unintended benefit.
