Quillback Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I like those PJ jig heads, thought I saw them at Hook, line and sinker the other day. Southtown had more choices but HLS might be closer to some I looked at those PJ heads, they have a wire weed guard which I like, but the hook size was 2/0, I like a #1. I sent them an email to see if they would be interested in making them with a #1 hook. InPiney, fishingaddiction and Champ188 3

They are located on the back side of a strip shopping center in Fayetteville on College Avenue. Sherwin Williams paint store is on the front side of the area they occupy. Might go by there and show them what we are wanting. InPiney 1
Ham Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Has anybody tried the Z-Man shroomz Jigheadz I bought some from Basspro they seem like the holder keeps the bait on the hook good with out any glue I have not used them yet. I'd bet that you'll still want to use glue with that fancy jighead. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
dtrs5kprs Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I'd bet that you'll still want to use glue with that fancy jighead. I hear the holder works pretty well, but I too would probably glue it up anyway. The manufacturer of the hook is not specified. Would hate to pay gammie prices for a mustad or eagle claw hook. It is far from the worst option. Can tell you when it hangs up there is no getting it back due to the hook.

I have used these in green pumpkin and brown and have caught a bunch of fish, but think they would really be good with the #1 hook (more action). Would buy 1/8 & 1/16 oz. Born to Fish. J-Doc Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Doc...that bow in your line is exactly what you want with the Ned. You don't want to feel it or have contact with it. Showed that to Bill Richey last spring and he thought it was probably 4 or 5 bites to one. Also why a lot of kids and ladies put it on the guys. They just let it be-bop along and don't get in the way of it. Wind is your friend, just like with anything else. Just have to get a little closer, make shorter casts, plan around it. One of my best days last year was in April (29th I think, can check the archived reports). Front coming in, wind howling 20+, something like 15 keepers between 830 and 2pm or so, plus shorts. Typical stupid smallmouth weather. Once you give up trying to feel the bait or the fish you will whack them. That and slowing down are the hardest parts, and are mostly upstairs. So how do you know when you have a bite if you're not monitoring it with contact? Ocassionally remove the slack and feel for weight? The fish could have munched on it for a long time without knowing it. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! Remove the slack to get to where you can feel, then let it fall again on slack line if you don't feel anything different. Sometimes your line will come tight from the fish that has in haled the bait. Other times they will take it and swim off with it. They will usually hold on to the elaztech to allow plenty of time to set the hook. If you miss a hit, just drop it back down, normally the fish will hit it again. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
J-Doc Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I'm like QB. I'm a "feel guy" too. Lol But I'll have to give this more effort. Need marine repair? fishingaddiction Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I am with you on the "feel" thing, this technique took me a while to get the hang of it. Once you catch a few you'll be able to repeat the process. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
motoman Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 maybe i missed something a long time back , but when i glue it on it melts the worm ,and they have been tearing up real easy.i'am i using the wrong type of glue. - As mentioned; loctite brand grey and blue bottle. Walmart carries it. For whatever reason; other super glues tend to destroy the zman stuff. - And too; like said above; don't try feeling for a bite or tick. Lose contact with the bait; the bait is so small and soft; typically if they pick it up; they want to keep it. - It's a great bait to throw in while your grabbing some more beef jerky or getting a drink and have your rod between your knees after a cast; with the bait in the water. I've lost count how many times I've gotten back to actually paying attention to my rod and I've got a fish on the Ned rig.
