dtrs5kprs Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 All of this really takes me back to the days of the Gitzit (or G-2). If you'd fish a 3" tube bait the same exact way I think you'll find that you have extremely similar results. Ned uses a bitsy tube at times as part of the system. There are a couple of lakes in KS that traditionally have a good small tube bite for brown fish. I played with the little tubes some last year, especially when my kids were out with me. Can 100% say that while it will work, a tube is not even close to the little rig. That is the subtle way of saying I went right back to it after the kids whacked my butt while I piddled with the tube. It reminds me of swimming the old thin walled original gitzits back in the 80's, but only when swimming it along. Dragging or deadsticking is a different deal.
Guest Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 PJs finesse was producing a Ned Rig head a couple years ago, but the owner scapped the idea & sold off the molds. He claimed the hook was too small & they wouldn't sell. That might have been the case back then, but not anymore.
Guest Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 From reading most of the posts all of you guys wrote, I believe most of you are on boats. Have any of you fished while on the bank, or while on foot? 75% of my Nedding experience has been wade fishing small creeks for smallmouth.

Speaking of which, I got a reply back from PJ's - said about what you just said, they didn't sell so they aren't making them anymore. Too bad, cause as you say, there looks to be a market for them now.
Dewayne French Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Wanting it down quickly will cost you fish. Just runs contrary to the entire concept. A super slow fall is exactly what you want. It is the opposite in every way of something like a 1/2oz FB jig. Your 1/8 is right for anything from 15' out to 35' or so. Shallower you want to stick with the 1/16. Thanks for this little "Bit" of info. I have been playing this around in my little P brain. I have not used this bait yet, but I will. My question is really two part. I have been wanting to use 6lb Nano-fill with a 4-6lb floro leader will this work with the above weights? Also is the new T.R.D. the new go to or would y'all advise me to use the Zinkerz and just cut it? Remember I'm a "Newbee" to this type of finesse game I can toss a Tube, Spoon, and Drop shot with most, but this IMHO takes the word Finesse to a whole different plant. I also believe with the Non Action of the technique and the elastech qualities of the lure are the "Trigger" that makes fish bite.
Guest Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 DeWayne, you dont need to go that light on line. Im using 15lb braid & 8lb yozuri hybrid leader Conventional wisdom tells us to get the bait down to the fish as quickly as possible. That way you can keep the bait in front of the fish. Nedding flies in the face of conventional wisdom. You want the bait to "drift down" thru the suspended fish at a slow pace. If the jighead is too heavy, it will rocket that little bait past the fish before they can react. You have to "un-learn" everything you've been taught about Conventional bass fishing. The "no feel" approach is like riding a bike. It takes a while to get started but once you get the hang of it, then its muscle memory.

I also believe with the Non Action of the technique and the elastech qualities of the lure are the "Trigger" that makes fish bite. I run straight six pound Invizx or occasionally red label. Have played with the various super line to leader rigs and hate the inevitable need to retie a leader. Bites when it is blowing 20+ and you are alone. Don't think four is better than six. I run some four on an ultralight in the summer when the peanut brownies are all over the banks. Kind of like creek fishing. 100% can tell you six beats eight on Table Rock. The TRD has less salt, and is eight to a pack. Zero and zinkerz are six, cut down gives you twelve baits for the same $. Little cheaper. There is one color that is TRD only so far, Canada craw, which is a nice green pumpkin with orange or copper flake in the belly. Probably the only TRD I will fish this year. The TRD does not stretch as well, in terms of loosening up the bait. Dewayne French and fishingaddiction 2
dtrs5kprs Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 You have to "un-learn" everything you've been taught about Conventional bass fishing. The Force is strong in this one... That one sentence is the key. Really it is a confidence/mental realignment.
Ham Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 There is one color that is TRD only so far, Canada craw, which is a nice green pumpkin with orange or copper flake in the belly. NOPE. The Canada Craw color is available in the 5 inch bait. I cut them in half and used some in October on a river trip. Good results. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future.
