LittleRedFisherman Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Ok, here's the video finally, check it out, like to hear how ya'll work the Ned in Current like this. I basically watched a little youtube, and got advice from Ham and this was the result. Notice how I work it differently after the first couple of fish! My partner here with me put one on after the second fish I caught in the sequence, but he had 10 pound standard mono, and it moved fast in the current. I was using 8 pound nano with a 8 pound low vis green mono leader, and it seemed to work perfectly, plus with that line, and my rage rod, I could feel a lot more than he could. There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
dtrs5kprs Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Nicely done. You can clearly see the difference in your slower more subtle shaking and your friend's work. He was visibly overworking the bait. Slower is rarely worse, lighter (line and heads) is usually better. Good stuff.
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Brett, if you don't mind, what lines were you and your buddy using? Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. (me) I am the master of my unspoken words, and the slave to those that should have remained unsaid. (unknown)

I was using 8 pound nano with an 8 pound low vis green cx premium. Mike "who is a novice bass angler to his credit here" had at least 10 maybe 12 pound clear mono. He did catch several fish on the ned himself that isn't showed here, if he sees this he'll remind me I'm sure..lol. I love this setup I got with the nano and my St. Croix Rage medium, extra fast action. Thanks to Ham for getting me on the nano.. There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!

Yes, what amazed me, the first 7 fish was out of the same hole, you'd think they'd get shaken up a bit from all the action, but they kept after it.. There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Ham Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Your buddy caught one when he stopped working his bait to net your fish. Lol. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

Can't speak to river fish, but I will spend several hours on one point, a little stretch of gravel, etc. Unlike an aggressive bait, I kind of think it turns them on to see other fish hunting the little deal. I think I'm with you on this now, the more I caught at that one point, the hotter the bite. I didn't put it in the video, but I catch a small fish, that hit it 3 times before I hooked him.. Not always sure it is the same fish. Was especially true of kentuckies last spring.
Guest Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 We caught 147 smallies & goggle eyes from a 1.5 mile stretch of creek last summer. A third of them from 1 pool. It took 6hrs for us to land that many. I'm convinced you can catch every single fish from every spot if you slow down.
