abkeenan Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 And to answer your other question I don't believe there are any spincast that have instant anti-reverse on them. ALL of them have a little back play...say 1/4-1 inch in my experience. The Omegas may (and should) be different considering they are nearly $80 bucks but I have no experience with those. I will glue a baitcaster to a kid or new anglers hand for a month while they sleep to get them familiar and able to use it before I shell out that kind of money on a spincaster.
dtrs5kprs Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 The BPS reels, understanding we are not looking at something to last a lifetime, but more like a few years. Actually did not know there are two sizes. We have the bigger one. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Extreme-Spincast-Reel/product/1209270506431/ Believe this is the 33 in the video, or it may have been the Delta which is the next step up. About a $35 reel. http://www.basspro.com/Zebco-33-Authentic-Platinum-Spincast-Reel/product/1308271346/
Guest Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Dave, I like the sleek design on the BPS reel. The button appears smaller & more accessible for small hands. I just hope his first fish comes on the Ned, life will be easy...
abkeenan Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Another nice thing about the spincasters is that weight of the lure has no bearing on the settings. No spool tension knobs, magnetic/centrifugal brakes, etc to mess with which is nice for kids. You can also cast light lures out of sight on a spincast because there is no spool friction or slow down and just peels off the spool like a spinning reel.
fishingaddiction Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Enjoyed the vid Dave. It is this time of winter when I really get to thinking about Spring getting here soon. Those are nice spincast reels. My nearly 4year old granddaughter will need something like that soon, as the princess rod and reel are just about wore out. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
crazy4fishin Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Nice vid Dave - good job teaching your son how to release a fish! He would not be penalized in MLF C4F Crazy4fishinA Cornhusker
Guest Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Dave, your video spurred me to buy a rod & reel combo at lunch. Duck dynasty combo $19 at academy. #Take A Kid Fishing
dtrs5kprs Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 Your wife is really going to hate me.
Guest Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Your wife is really going to hate me. Actually, shes excited! Lol
Quillback Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Why didn't they have those cool camo rod/reel combos when I was 4 years old?
