My wife really enjoyed this show. I liked the cooking aspect of it but, the adventure part was too "Bear Grylls" for me.  She also enjoyed the first few seasons of Master Chef Junior with him.

              Another meatless lunch,

 Harvested first Patty Pan squash today.  Decided to make it lunch. Never had this before so googled a few recipes. Decided  roasted was what I wanted but threw my own spin into it. 

thumbnail_0728201152.jpg   Some banana peppers (mild) and a serrano sliced this for a bit of heat. Recipe called for red pepper flakes so I omitted that.  

  Cut up the squash and peppers. Grabbed a skillet and put in some olive oil put in all the veggies with a bit of salt and pepper and coated all. into a 425 preheated oven for approx 30 minutes. While this was going on went back to garden for a teaspoon of thyme leaves. After the 30 minutes was over in went the thyme and a couple teaspoons of minced garlic. Stirred it up and back in the oven for another five minutes. Then out,thumbnail_0728201238_HDR.jpg then plated,thumbnail_0728201240a.jpg

  Then went to cleaning plate, thumbnail_0728201259.jpg    Very good. Lots of mini squash on plants now and they are supposed to be very prolific. Looks to me like there will be a goodly amount of squash in our diet the rest of the summer.

Couple t bones headed for med rare, cared local sweet corn, inside are some fresh mares and cukes and onions.  I love summer.  Well except for the heat.

Take out Chinese at one of our favorite spots. No dine in there, just take out. Small place — long and narrow. Not worth doing 50%. Not many tables and there isn’t 6 feet between the two rows anyway. It’s gotta be awfully painful for them.

I think TV makes people change. They may start out fairly normal but the network’s need for drama and/or manufactured interest makes everybody (but a very few) end up too full of themselves and and/or a stinking phony.

Don’t care to watch Gordon Ramsey’s shtick. I’ve been around screaming a-holes before and I don’t have much tolerance for it.

I do enjoy Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. Sure,  Guy is a bit much, but he still does make me laugh a lot of the time. Not as much as he makes himself laugh though. Love to see the various small-time cooks/chefs and their recipes and restaurants. Love the regional and/or ethnic cuisine.

Ya know I’m not even talking about Ramsey’s personality and screaming. I’m talking about his actual cooking ability. I think the guy couldn’t wash Jacques Pepin’s feet.  He seems a little too Bobby Flay/Giada De Laurentiis for me.

Generally when I watch those shows I see a recipe or cooking preparation and  it looks like I would like it and I go to it and find it and copy it.  Or record the show.  I have everything current from emeril to Michael Simon.  I made a bunch from Guy Fieri show triple d.  Just record and copy.  None from the blow hard.

Love Jacques Pepin. He’s a master of his craft. Have watched his videos on knife skills, techniques etc. and like them a lot. 

Bobby Flay is pretty east coast but still knowledgeable and likable. I’ll watch. 

Giada looks good. That’s it.
