snagged in outlet 3 Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 My number rule is if they crow about how big the burger is it's a no go for us. Giant food is not better food!
Terrierman Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 White Grill in Nevada is one of those places that when you grew up there and you're back in town for some reason, one of their cheeseburgers with grilled onions just has to happen. snagged in outlet 3 1

Sounds like you might enjoy Town Topic here in KC. Tiny place with stools at the counter, a few 2-seat tables along the front wall. If they enforced the 6-foot rule their capacity would be 3 customers and a cook They do smashed burgers on a flat top with grilled onions. Very simple and tasty. Terrierman and Mitch f 2 John
snagged in outlet 3 Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 There used to be a place in South St Louis near our bicycle shop like that, @ness. We hammered those burgers all the time. Even the ones that cock roaches in the paper wrapper. Johnny Rockets Cancun Airport!!!! Of course they might only be good since we were always hung over when when we got there. Terrierman and ness 2

Flysmallie Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 Yeah very few of those big burger/craft burger places are good. I wont even try the ones here in town. If in Springfield you have to try Reds. A new take on the original burger joint. Lots of history there along with some good burgers and fries. snagged in outlet 3 and Terrierman 1 1

List of good ones we like to hit. Fast Eddies Bonair, Better burger at the Village bar, Smash burger believe it or not, Danas at Tablerock State Park, The Brass Rail in O'Fallon to name a few..... Oh and the sports bar at Ameristar has a darn good one too. My kids always want S&S so they can get a shake. So at this point I’m burned out on that joint. I don’t even like shakes. ness Posted September 1, 2020 Author Posted September 1, 2020 This all has me thinking about burger joints that have been around a long time. Many have some good memories attached. Winstead's on The Plaza in KC. Art Deco architecture that's pretty cool. Burgers, rings, shakes, sodas, The Skyscraper soda that comes in a vase and is best eaten by 2+ people. Neighbor lady used to take us there, likely to give my mom a break. An annual tradition with my kids to go down and see The Plaza lights and eat there. Expanded, contracted and only the original (1940's) location is left. Filed BK in February so it may not survive. Real estate is worth more than the franchise. Mug's Up in Independence. Drive up only, homemade root beer that's served in frozen mugs. Good stuff, food just OK. Often a stop Friday or Saturday night while cruising back in the 70's. Nice folks. HiBoy in Independence. Typical burger joint menu. Great onion rings. Lotsa stops there growing up. Nu-Way in Wichita. Used to be one in KC. Loose-meat burgers, good homemade root beer too. A must-stop to the original if I'm near Wichita. Terrierman 1 John
