Speaking of canned, tinned seafood the sardine is becoming really popular. We like sardines. Actually, ordered some better ones to try. Four verities. Sardine stores are showing up on charcuterie trays with cheese and other various goodies.

Did the Japanese joint Friday night. Very good, as usual. And, they’re not telling on the salad dressing.

Those are not what my dumplins look like. Those are drop dumplings or something else. I always make stiff dumplings, the Dutch/German way.

Yep, drop dumplings. I always drop the drop when I'm talking about my dumplings. :D

There used to be a great restaurant in Newburg, MO, right on I 44, called Cooking From Scratch. I always made it a point to stop there when in the area. They had 'Chicken and Dumplins' (no g) on the menu once, so I ordered it...with the g. And the waitress corrected me and said it was dumplins. :D

Anyhoo, I Googled dumplings and looky here:

Cooking from Scratch is still there I think. Haven't been by there in awhile, but we always loved their fried chicken, and they had a 66 oz Route 66 burger challenge. It has been a good weekend to cook! Did some pot roast and homemade mashed potatoes on Saturday. Posole with hot tortillas slathered in butter, honey, and lime was yesterday. Tonight is left over pot roast and we are gonna make potato pancakes.

Retirement and crappie weather has left me with some time on my hands so I made a bat h of Honey Wheat bread ( 2 loaves ready to go in oven) and a pot of modified cabbage soup.  The recipe (guide) was for a diet type vegetarian soup, but add some sausage and jowl meat and it does smell good.
