BilletHead Posted Wednesday at 12:36 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:36 PM I guess gravy was the theme yesterday afternoon and this morning. Fried young squirrel with mashed potatoes and squirrel gravy. Wilted lettuce too. This morning biscuits and chocolate gravy. Yes it's a thing not overly sweet as one might think. This gives me the hankering for Red eye gravy another southern treat. That sounded familiar, but I don't recall ever seeing it before. So, I asked the missus and she said her mom used to make it and serve it over fried potatoes. She said it's absolutely delicious. I may do that for her sometime. Can you point to a recipe? I know I could ask her mom, but she's a 'by-feel' cook and won't have anything written down. I could also Google, if I absolutely had too. Hassel Bell retired from teaching history and coaching football at Marshfield. When he did, he began teaching at Eureka to get his forty quarters for social security. He went home to Marshfield on the weekends. He was a College of the Ozarks grad and very smart. He was also as Missouri hillbilly as you could be. Every year on his birthday, the kitchen ladies would fix him chocolate gravy on homemade biscuits. He was in heaven. I miss that man. BilletHead and Quillback 2
Quillback Posted yesterday at 10:42 AM Posted yesterday at 10:42 AM When I was a kid, my mom had a tradition of making biscuits on Sunday mornings. Never had chocolate gravy. I was always a butter and jelly (usually grape) fan on biscuits. ness and rps 2

One of my sons even came up with a "Biscuits and Gravy" song to annoy us all with on those mornings. BilletHead, rps and Quillback 1 2 John
