   Like a fig :).

OK that was a smart a** answer. How about this. Ever eaten a fig newton? No it does not taste like a fig newton either :) . Hard to explain and compare with anything else. Sweet honey like taste I think.  Come on someone help me out here.   Pat will have to settle without homemade ice cream Ronnie.

T'was the one I expected. I mean how do you tell somebody what something tastes like? It's like telling somebody what the color blue looks like. Dumb question, I apologize. I do love me some homemade ice cream though.

A while back there was a discussion about grilled cheese. Well here is what I call my favorite type of that sandwich .

I think subbing to your taste makes it better. I used Smoked cheddar and asagio for my two cheese choices. Used the Hatch chilies I worked up but have subbed anchos from our garden and even jalapenos once. Also instead of a plain garlic clove used some of the wild garlic I roasted. A few chips on the side and a ice cold long neck beer made it a treat. Did not use the little special bread just big stuff to make a big grilled cheese.

I was able to corral ⅔ of my progeny for dinner tonight. The tickets I had to the Royals game helped get them interested

My favorite meal, hands down, is this: fried chicken, mashed taters, cream gravy, corn (on top of the taters) and green beans. image.jpeg

Ok Chief I have found them, they will be in my lunch rotation.  Haven't eaten any yet.  Price wasn't bad considering its a bigger can and hopefully tasty.

As explained in the text, the wife and I ate out for a change. In case you come to Eureka, here is the skinny.

Last night. for the first time in years, we ate out together in Eureka Springs. We made a reservation, dressed up, and drove into town and everything.
We visited a place we had heard about and had read about, Le Stick Nouveau.
Many of you know I have become picky, especially when I am in establishments trying to do "fine dining." You should bear that in mind as you read the following.
Nancy had the star appetizer, the beef carpaccio. It was excellent and presented in a smoke filled glass dome. I had a hors d'oeuvre, a savory chevre cheese cake slice with pickled onions and balsamic tomatoes. It was very, very tasty, but not at the level of Nancy's appetizer.
She ordered the duck with a ginger plum sauce. I ordered the seared diver scallops. Her duck was cooked exactly to the doneness she ordered and was tender. Her only comment on the sauce was that she could have eaten another bowl of it. The scallops were seared perfectly. The side dishes, glazed carrots and potato dauphinoise were seasoned well, but not anything to rave about. The scallops were, unfortunately, frozen and thawed. That meant that even though they were perfectly cooked, their texture was different from those I have eaten where fresh, true diver scallops are available. I can't really fault a restaurant in Arkansas for using frozen scallops, but I was a little let down.
Nancy ordered a dessert, a Grand Marnier chocolate mousse, and shared a bite with me. The texture was perfect, the quinelle of whipped cream was beautiful and perfect, and the candied orange slice was truly exceptional. We wish the mousse had been made with dark chocolate as it seemed a bit bland.
The wine list was merely good rather than extensive - one inexpensive, two middle range, and one expensive label for each of the major varieties.
Nits that need picking: the cellophane noodles that accompanied the duck were not a good idea. The half and half that comes with the very good coffee should have been in a small pitcher rather than convenience store plastic servings.
The service was sincerely friendly and good without being cloying.
As we knew when we made reservations, this was an expensive meal. Sometimes this is not a bad thing.
In other words, they got the important things right. Le Stick Nouveau does the best "fine dining" in Eureka Springs.
4 out of 5 stars.
