My persimmon tree drops branches every year that are loaded with fruit. They soften up but I've never had the guts to taste one. Looks like coon scat to me.
rps Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Enough about coon scat. Over the long weekend, the wife and I made a forage trip to Fayetteville. Farmers market, Lowes, and Sams. One of the items we bought was the mushroom and truffle raviolis package. Tonight I will cook some of these and then submerse them in a chicken stock, lemon, butter bath. As the veg, I am roasting curried cauliflower. Good stuff in the Ozarks.
BilletHead Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 I want to agree with you RPS on the coon scat but cannot. Just like coon scat you can learn a lot about the crap that is spread by some people on this site . Cook on people but don't deposit and stir crap, BilletHead Johnsfolly 1 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" MOPanfisher Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Well this is nothing special but it does have gravy, and a salad with cukes and sugar peas to go with. It has the grandson slobber of approval. BilletHead, ness and Johnsfolly 3
Terrierman Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Persimmons get sweet after they've been frost bit. Until then uh un. First hard frost OK, but the second hard frost is more reliable. You will have to race the creatures to get them About dinner. Leftovers. Tuna free tuna casserole. Egg noodles, leftover grilled steelhead (most of one medium side) pesto alfredo, four ounces of sliced button mushrooms, two large cloves of garlic pressed, maybe an ounce of decent EVOO and some time in the oven at 350 F. And a bottle of KJ vintner reserve Chard. Cardinals v. Pirates on the box. I've had it worse. Johnsfolly and rps 2
MOPanfisher Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 What is tuna free tuna casserole? I have begun leaving persimmon sprouts in clumps around my property. Neigh or dozed all of the ones along the fence out. In 20 years or so maybe I will have some nice persimmon groves to help draw in deer for my wife to shoot. Wait that would mean I still have to clean her deer when I am 70, sure hope so. Otherwise someone else will either be happy or really ticked off at the persimmons.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Taco Tuesday since it's a holiday week it falls on Wednesday. ness, Terrierman and BilletHead 3

Tuna casserole with steelhead instead of tuna.
MOPanfisher Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 AHHH, sounds better than regular tuna casserole. Tuna casserole was one of those things as a kid I was forced to eat, was nothing but noodles, canned tuna, and I think cream of mushroom soup. All things I like, combine them and I am OUT. Dad and I seemed to find a lot of evenings to go fishing on tuna casserole nights, supper often consisted of a Mr. GoodBar and a Bit-O-honey candy bars on those nights. rps 1

Some time, for fun, make it with left over seared Ahi tuna and a cheesy bechamel.. Game changer.
