Made a mushroom gravy and fried some very thin chops breaded in panko. Sides were Read’s German potato salad and Aunt Nellie’s jarred red cabbage. Pretty tasty, pretty painless too. Was over in Germany several years ago and found a bar that had this every night! Fine people! ness and Johnsfolly 2 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Johnsfolly Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 I was in former east Germany many years ago and even though most folks didn't speak English I felt very at home. Lots of grilled meats, fine beers, and the Saturday flea market had vendors with all kinds of antlers (red stags, roebucks, fallow deer, etc.) and beer steins ! Of course it helped that I never once had to spell my last name . ness 1

I’d eat that! I love meatloaf, but it gets a bad rap. It’s the fruitcake of meat...I may have just coined a phrase! rps 1 John

What I see there is a whole family sitting down for a meal and I think that’s a very good thing. Of course, the drapes need to be extinguished first, but that probably goes without saying. Of course it helped that I never once had to spell my last name . I’ve spent a good portion of my life spelling my last name for people. I’ve always thought a trip to Germany would be nice because they’d get it right. Or, they might just tell me I’m pronouncing it wrong. I’d best stay put. John
Foghorn Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Ness, had the exact thing happen in California last summer. Staying at a motel waiting to get ready for my niece's wedding and spoke with a couple at the pool. They had a foreign dialect with their English and I'm sure my "Ozarks" English threw them off. They were from Switzerland, where my paternal great grandparents came from and the lady had lived in the same town. When I pronounced my last name, she said "No, it's pronounced this way". 64 years old and pronounced it wrong all these years. ness and Johnsfolly 2
