I hear a lot of chomping!!

Is that a Bloody Mary?

Heinz 57? Not quite the right color.

My other two pickle posts were so well received I figgered I’d add this.  Gonna try fermented pickles. Salty brine with dill, garlic, dill seed, black peppercorns, and red pepper flakes.

All the stuff loaded into the crock:

Stones loaded in to keep the cukes submerged:

Now we wait a few weeks and see what we get.

Back in the "Old Days" every summer there was a big stone crock on the back porch full of cucumbers, garlic, dill, grape leaves and I don't know what else.  We had to skim off the scum from the top occasionally.  Usually we started sneaking them out after a week or so.  Finally mom found a second smaller crock she would put there for us to eat from so she could can up the rest.  They were never as good as right out of the crock though.

Been a week now, so I’m gonna try one soon. My understanding is they’ll continue to get more sour with more time. They smell pretty good right now. No scum yet.

The drink is straight V8. I am taking a vacation from spirits.

The sauce is homemade bbq sauce. (Tomato paste, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, salt, pepper, celery salt, Worcestershire sauce, sriracha, boiled cider, apple cider vinegar, and water.)

The bark comes from my secret rub - salt and pepper.

 Actual  alaskan wild salmon.

Seasoned with some sea salt that I had smoked and then freshly ground and black pepper.

Grilled?  Smoked? Finished pics would be great. We have a local connection right here on OA!
