balsabee Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Nitro believes performance is not just top end speed.... So what is it they perform well in? Not a knock...just curious as how a nitro out performs....say a Basscat? Champ188 1
Fish24/7 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Maximum horsepower in many tournaments, including BASS and FLW Tour events, is 250 hp. wonder how long before that gets upped another 50hp ? 300's are common on the walleye tours I'm surprised FLW has not raised the max already.
Sac River Jim Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 i just bought a 1999 r93 ranger w/ a 200 efi 25p tempest prop and 6'' mechanical jack plate. i still want to replace the reed valves before i push it too much but the other day I and my buddy mike got her up to 64 on gps at 5600 rpm's with full fuel tank. thats plenty fast for me. I'm like Champ I dont want to be wired for sound when I'm fishing derbies. I'm wound tight enough the way it is Champ188 1

1farmer Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Nitro believes performance is not just top end speed.... So what is it they perform well in? Not a knock...just curious as how a nitro out performs....say a Basscat? Nitro Z8, Basscat Puma comparison,250 proxs 26 fury Hole shot : about the same, nitro has less bow lift 20 to 35 mph: nitro does it better 35 to 70 mph:nitro ride is better (smooth),bass cat handles rough better(it drives itself in side waves) I will explain if needed. 70 to 80 mph: bass cat get's the nod,(they go fast) water to rough to run in(can't get on top and run without bounce or spearing), nitro with it"s ability to stay on plane at slower speeds, goes through the waves like a duck.
mixermarkb Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Ummm. I'm not gonna get into a measuring contest here, I'll just say that the basscat hull rewards someone who knows how to drive. If you point and shoot, and bash waves, the nitro may react as you say. If you know how to use trim, and turn into waves, and "roll" a hull over the rough stuff, the cat is going to outperform the nitro in every situation you just listed. And an old narrow beam champion 202 or 203 will outperform the cat in every way except top end.
Bill Babler Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 I don't drive a Kitty, but before anyone anywhere starts comparing anything to one, they had better have at least a dozen cases completely full of J.D. Power awards for: Best in class, Best in Performance, Highest Quality Build by MMA, Highest Customer Satisfaction, Highest Resale to initial price, and a simi-load of patents on how to build one of the most structurally sound Fiberglass boats not only on the market but that has ever been built. I don't believe anyone including what I drive wants to get in that arena and start anything with that boat company. On top of that, those are some of the best folks I have ever met in any type of the boat business. You go down there to look at a boat regardless if you are Mike Ike or Joe Blow, and The friggin owner of the Joint is the 1st. person to greet you and he knows your name and everything about you. Every person in the plant will know who you are call you by name and show you the complete operation. BassCat is a Complete leader in the Bass Boat industry and is run by one of the best staffs in any kind of business. The Quality of their product is beyond reproach, they have been doing it right since 1971. Carry on. Ham and balsabee 2 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
rainbow Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Wow that is some fast boat speed. I guess I am one of the 45 mph squirmers.
