abkeenan Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Aaron Martens said on stage that his Father died yesterday. Boy, it would be tough to concentrate. Hate it for him. Yeah what terrible timing. Hard to enjoy yourself at the biggest stage in fishing with that bouncing around in your head all day.
Champ188 Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I remember covering the 1984 Classic in Pine Bluff when Clunn blew the field away with 75 pounds, 9 ounces while his father was on his deathbed. Clunn was visibly shaken, especially off camera and in press conferences. I remember him saying the place he could put it out of his mind was in the boat.
Bill Babler Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Christie was pretty accurate with his weight. He usually does not tell all. Would really be nice on the presentation if they would just be a bit more main stream. All the Hoop-La and other stuff is just not necessary. Really gets to be more than a boor. Several stories present biggest is probably A-Mart loosing his father last night. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Champ188 Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Acknowledging that fishing (even the Classic) pales in comparison to life and death, it will be interesting tomorrow to see if the leaders can catch em again. If they can, considering the current 3-pound drop from third (18-8) to fourth (15-7), it may be a three-horse race come Sunday.

You have to think it would be awfully hard to pop twenty pounds again tomorrow. If they do, there's not much to do but tip the cap and finish as high as possible. Champ188 1
Members fullmoon Posted February 21, 2015 Members Posted February 21, 2015 Not that my opinion matters but i can't take Zona because of seeing him play a bass like a guitar on his show. Champ188 1

Should definitely slow things down a bit. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Sore Thumbs Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 They are all saying that early bite they missed today is crucial. There will be some sacks weighed in tomorrow. Gonna be interesting. Anyone wth 10 plus pounds after day one is still in this.
Fish24/7 Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 A full day will give Casey enough time to fish 50 of his brush piles he sank, lol
Guest Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I feel bad for Aaron Martens, he's always had some bad breaks in the classics over the years. Losing your Dad on that day would be unreal, so very sad. I'm glad the corps of Engineers honored David Walker. He's always been an angler that does things the right way. The news should be reporting stuff like that more often, good Samaritans doing public service. As for the cold, there will be a slight increase in temps on Day 2 . Things could get interesting on the final day. Especially if there's any muddy runoff coming into a lake that's really low. With that said, I hope they move the classic back to the late summer/early fall.
