I get crap from my family for watching fishing shows anyway.......this final weigh in show was embarrassing even for me. I thought the coverage earlier in the day was awesome.....hated that they cut it short because they kept giving that part of the day so Much hype........ I hope they get this fixed because I really do love having the sport on television etc...

I liked the live coverage also, even if the guys have hit a slow spell it is interesting to see what they throw and how they fish it. I also hope that the next time they cover them until the end of the day.

And more thing......why did they schedule the classic the same day as the Daytona 500.??

Seems to me that NASCAR and BASS would know they have a lot of the same fans....OK I'm done!

Here is what I would like to see in the future.

All day coverage on ESPN, just one of the many they have would be fine say ESPN2

The host should be in a room that is silent, watching the live coverage and hearing all the background noise was annoying. Take a lesson from other sports with huge crowds guys.

Weigh in should never have any pauses in it or other events in it just weight the fish.

Move the Classic to April, The last two classics could have resulted in someone getting killed on the way to or from with the weather conditions. I mean come on Boats frozen to trailers is bad but with a guy having to pull a boat from the lake to weigh in on slick icy roads is just not warranted.

And if you really want to make it interesting give extra ounces for anyone of the pro’s that can knock down one of the many drones flying around them.

Back in the 90s, BASS won several awards for the laser light show that accompanied their weigh-ins. If memory serves, this while Ray Scott was still in charge. Even an old stick-in-the-mud like me will admit that was pretty cool. But the light show was incorporated into the weigh-in and things rolled along at a decent clip, ending well inside 2 hours. I think we can all agree that someone at J.M. Associates (the production company owned by Jerry McKinnis) has taken things way too far.

I'm with Bill on being proud as peaches for Casey Ashley. What a seemingly fine young man. But I would bet a crisp $100 bill that there are those with BASS who would much rather have seen one of the camera hogs (think Iaconelli) win because Ashley doesn't ham it up nearly enough to suit them. He's all about fishing and zero about putting on a big show. And he's a Christian. So when the new Elite Series season starts in a few weeks, rest assured the cameras will be focused on the boats of the same ones ... Iaconelli, Swindle, etc.

i was astounded when i turned on the computer to see who won, and they were still weighing in. sure glad i got in a nap and missed all of that non-sense. i am in agreement about putting people in danger traveling on slick roads.

i know ashley is a somewhat local, but he just flat out caught bass all three days. the best thing he did was figuring out the bass were on the bottom adjacent to the trees. but, if you caught glimpses of his sonar, he was right on the channel edge. the other key was finding those areas where that edge was at the depth the bass wanted to be at. this is a key point for many to soak in. you have to search for depth changes, meaning your ledge edge or roll off, that occur at the depth the bass are wanting to stay. now as evidenced, when the bass get active, they will leave home for a while but eventually return there. ashely was very astute at knowing when the bass were active and when they were at home, and to understand where home was for that tournament. again, great job and well deserved win.

The way I look at it bass fishing is just too unpredictable to put on a live show on television. Saturday's live coverage was a prime example. Nothing was happening with the 5 anglers that had camera on the boats for long periods of time. Until they can get live coverage on all the boats there will be huge lulls of boring coverage. That being said the weigh in could definitely be broadcast live if they get a better production company to keep things flowing.

I had the same discussion about weather and danger with a good friend who fished one of the early Classics at Percy Priest. It was God's grace that no one was seriously hurt in those conditions. They have lived through it at Grand and now Hartwell, but not sure how many times you can roll the dice like that before someone loses in a big way.

If they stick with the Feb date, it really needs to be somewhere warm. Maybe the Calif Delta, Florida. Would have to make for better TV. Cold dates also eliminate a big chunk of competitors, those who are just not able to handle the cold. There were clearly some of those. Kind of like the indoor Super Bowl question I guess. Conditions are part of the game, but I would rather see the game played at the highest level possible when it is the biggest one.

Great champion, three years running to be honest about it. Maybe Pace, Howell, and Ashley just get more fishing in since they are not busy flopping around and yelling.

I don't mind the lulls in catching. There is a lot to be learned from watching someone not catch fish too. With the length of the live coverage it was an in and out span of watching for me anyway.
