Champ188 Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I learn much more from watching them NOT catching fish. How they cast, how they work the bait, where they are in relation to the bank or other structure. Hell, watching Randy throw that crankbait around that bridge was cool. I've had people say, "how in the hell do you sit there and watch people play poker on TV", kind of the same deal, you get to see all the little things that matter. Much more interesting to me, hopefully the TV producers catch onto it. Couldn't agree more. I don't think it will ever happen on TV because it's only a very small percentage of us who are captivated by the little stuff and would sit still for more than 20 seconds with someone just casting and dragging or winding. But I hope it stays that way with the online coverage for sure. abkeenan 1
Smithvillesteve Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 With as big as the Classic has become, why in the heck isnt it on tv? Espn has multiple channels and there are several outdoor channels now. I dont have wifi at my house so watching on a computer is not an option!! Somebody needs to take this over and do it right. I agree with Dave. Watching pro's not catch fish is ok with me. Lots to learn there. I watch pro golfers make bad shots! And i agree there needs to be a quiet place, like pro golf again, where qualified people analyze what is going on. I also agree that the Classic needs to be moved to later in the Spring. Taking off in 10 degrees friday is just not right. I know NASCAR starts its season with its Superbowl but i dont believe BASS needs to do that. Unbelievable these guys are catching 15-20 lbs in this kind of weather. I think I'll hook up my boat and go fishing!!! Oh wait, ice all over the lake up here right now. Crap!!!
Champ188 Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I'm intrigued by the Shadow Rap stickbait, but then I'm intrigued by practically every new jerkbait that comes along. Otherwise, yes ... a homemade version of the ancient horsehead jig kicked the butts of all the newfangled stuff, including those Livingston crank baits that can emit four different sounds. Casey's horsehead may not have made any sound, but the crowd sure did when he held up the trophy. Quillback, fishingaddiction and abkeenan 3
Alex Heitman Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Abkeenan I'm pretty sure the shadow rap is sold out at a lot of places. I checked last night and found some on bass pro but a lot of other places were going pretty fast. I picked up some fish heads as well. I've always wanted to try some but just never pulled the trigger. I ordered them now rather than wait and be sold out.
abkeenan Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I am going to go ahead and place ALL the cold and late winter weather the last couple years on Dave. Some people say it's global warming. Some people say it's polar caps melting. I say it's the Revenge of the Groundhog. Dave has cursed us all by his irreverent behavior behind the wheel and even further lack of respect for all God's creatures including large fur bearing rodents. fishingaddiction and Champ188 2

Would've been poetic justice if that 80-pound "furry freak of nature" (look out Mercer, I'm gunning for you!) had flipped that Expedition when Dave ran it over like a savage. abkeenan 1

Almost bought some last time I ordered at TW back during their Black Friday sale but I took them out of my cart at the last second when the good tackle angel on my shoulder for a split second trumped the evil devil angel on my other shoulder. I really want to get some of these: But at 8.99 a piece I'll pass. Anyone that can make what is in the above pic for an affordable price around 2-3 bucks (doesn't have to be painted or have eyes) I would be happy to purchase some off you.

He's also responsible for the Spro Rock Crawler shortage. Alex Heitman 1
