Every city has homeless people. Branson has its share. Might even have more than it's share. We're on a major north/south route - they pass through frequently. Some have moved here in hopes of an easy job, and there are jobs, but most are unskilled, minimum wage pay and people just don't know how to manage their money, let alone their lives.

Branson has more than their share of ministries that try to help these people. But it's a very tough task to educate, or reeducate people who are used to have things given to them.

It's a vicious cycle that's now several generations deep. It's going to get worse.

Sad but I believe everything you say is true. The good part is there are a lot more good people down here than there are the other kind. That should also be recognized.

well said. Whats going on in Branson is on repeat nation wide. Meth production where i live is a major problem as it seems to be getting out of hand for many states with lots of rural areas.

I thinks it's no different than any other city. It's no different than Springfield that's for sure. We live in a nice neighborhood in a good part of town but my daughter's school bus still stops at a motel every morning to pick kids up.

absolutely and well said terrierman. I still feel that area and the ozarks in general are absolutely beautiful and the majority of people are good, honest and hardworking.

I agree with everything said above. Why sentence these scum bags to life in prison? Do you think the victims family feel better about it? If we don't want them on the streets, ever, put them down. Why do we think they are any different than a bad dog. There are serious problems with some people, that is nature and that is just the way it is. As a nation we are looking for ways to save money, reduce taxes, reduce the national debt and on and on and on. We need to start using good common sense about the way, and what, we are spending money on. If we lose our debt credit worthiness in the world economy we are not going to like it!! It is not going to be the same place. Rant over.

Back to the topic......it does seem, to me anyway, that these types of violent crimes against other people are becoming more common. Yet the justice system appears to only slap the offenders on the wrist. Life in prison to most of these people is like sending them, all expenses paid, to a resort. We don't even expect them to work while there. We don't want to strip them of their rights and dignity. Bull dung!!

I am pretty sure this will offend someone but get over it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I might not like yours.

After the Reagan era when they started to defund mental institutions you can see the trend. Correct me if I'm wrong and I could very well be, but didn't we just use to lock up the mentally ill and throw away the key? Now with all the pc crap we have to give the mentally ill all the same rights as everyone else no matter what their mental illness is. I by no means are advocating locking all up because that is not the case, but in this instance someone should have locked this guy up a long time ago it looks like. The homeless thing in Branson doesn't surprise me. Anywhere you have a large service industry that pays minimal you will have people who live in motels or that are homeless. Look at Orlando home to Disney. They claim there are a lot of people living day to day in motels or on the streets or out of their cars.

what a long strange trip it's been , put a dip in your hip, a glide in your stride and come on to the mother ship , the learning never ends

All the dirtbags like this guy and the one who Killed Hayley Owen last year in Springfield should be castrated on pay per view, then fed back to them for their last meal before they are shot in the head. Give all the proceeds to the family of the victom.

As a father myself, I cannot fathom what that kind of loss would feel like. There are no words to describe that kind of rage.

Remember - If at first you DO succeed, try not to act surprised & quit while you're ahead.
