What is stupid.....did I miss a whole page or something? Spending some of our money on something we all love(anything about fishing)? What is wrong with that?

The stupidest part to me is the amount of money invested in them (I forgot the amount, but I read an annual report years ago and remember it being freaking crazy).

All of this $ for a season that only lasts 5-6 weeks per year, and boosts nothing in a community aside from beer sales.

Then they slap a length limit on the SNAGGED FISH so after a few good days you'll find dead spoonbill (and catfish) along the banks everywhere, that only coons, turtles and buzzards are allowed to touch.

Then they go all crazy nazi about what you can/can't do with the eggs out of the stupid things.

Yet the WP and MDC agents turn a blind eye to all the boating violations that go on during this time...ya know, like 6 fat boys, drunker than Cooter Brown, in a leaky 14' unregistered jon boat, with no pfd's, on a tailrace.

Did I mention that they spend insane amounts of our money to maintain this "fishery"? Money that could be better spent protecting our native fish IMO.

I love snagging for paddlefish, but I have to say that you do make a pretty good argument. The thing about the six fat boys drunker than Cooter Brown in a 14' boat made me laugh pretty good because you definitely see plenty of that.

How do you figure that spoonbill are not native fish?

I do wish MDC would model their spoonbill program more after OK, where they harvest the eggs and use the proceeds to pay for stocking fish.

MDC never messes with the eggs because the anglers clean their own fish and they get dumped back in to the water 99% of the time. Oklahoma has cleaning stations that will clean the fish for you while they keep the eggs to resell. The carp and catfish sure do appreciate all of those eggs laying on the bottom of the river.

That sounds like a problem that will solve itself if left alone. :-)

I can't dance like I used to.

Chiming in for a minute here, Length limits on any species snagged is foolish IMO the fish most likely will perish after being released and IMO that is “Wanted Waste” which is a pure violation of game laws. With that in mind there should be NO length limit.

Next per the regulation YOU not a DNR is who is in possession of a fish the fish includes everything inside it. I understand the reasoning for the not keeping Row but if they are so worried about it then have Agents out enforcing poaching and illegal sales. If a person likes the row wants to keep it then they should as the fish is in their possession. Or simply put a 2 fish per week limit on them and require they be checked in just like deer. Or hey how about paddlefish tags just like for deer with (X) number of tags per person only.

If that's not the truth!!! I actually witnessed that exact thing yesterday...all while I was working my tail off and looking at my $25 flip phone. And don't forget about the tax dollars that go to those jobless people's 20 different offspring!
