dtrs5kprs Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Have to question why anyone would want to catch fewer fish, if they still averaged the same number of keepers, or better fish. Let's see... Door #1- Conservatively, an 8 hour day with 50 fish, 5-7 in the 15"-18" range or Door #2- Say a third of that, still a nice day, at 16 or so total, with the same 5-7 better fish Look, I'm not great at math, but this seems easy. Ham 1
dtrs5kprs Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Stream or lake, more fish in the boat seems better. Guess you can take the trout approach of only wanting to catch them on one particular bait. I just want to meet them all, ask them how they have been, and send them home. Terrierman, Ham, jtram and 2 others 5
Chief Grey Bear Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Why is it that every time there's a discussion about the "Ned rig" folks have to jump all over it? I'm not a hater or a fanboy..yet. I owe a lot of fish at the hot lake to the ned when I couldn't get them to bite on much else on a few bluebird days. I don't think it will ever replace my standards in the creek, but I'll give them a fair shot this year. But still, it seems like every time folks have to talk about how it's not really new. I think Babler even uses a different name for it as if to show he's known about this longer than the rest of the Johnny-come-latelys. When the A-rig got big, folks were saying "umbrella rigs have been around for a long time." The whole thing is like if I were to tell someone I really liked X band, and they said "well I liked them before they were cool." You know that guy? Yeah. Barbara Mandrell had a huge hit song about the same thing. But everybody likes to think they're the ones who discovered the new hot thing. Guest Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 How about we do a Ned Rig contest on the Elk this summer? That way anybody on the board can join. Sound good
Chief Grey Bear Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I hate the Elk. Lay down your criteria. Daryk Campbell Sr Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 ... I knew the ELK when it was just a Calf, Used to fish it with the tail pulled off of my grub on a weighted head. That was when I wasn't throwing the Multi Stiff wire with 3 hooks and 2 blades. Yea, Ive been around.
