Chief Grey Bear Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 You hate the Elk, or you hate upper Elk and thousands of drunks that have ruined the upper? I should probably use the term "strongly dislike" instead. Not counting the party floaters, it still gets beat to death. And yes I am talking about Pville to Noel. I shouldn't knock it though. It serves it's purpose. To keep those part time nature lovers off the rest of our streams. Chief Grey Bear Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I've always wanted a big learning curve. I've been wanting to ask you about that sriracha sauce you had. I bought some of that but it was much much hotter! I got the exact same bottle you have! What gives? rps Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I have fished the "Ned" recently and as some have stated it does tend to catch what seems like the smaller fish in the room......but, I have been experimenting with some other baits on the Ned head and these baits I have found will always catch bigger fish on average than the Zinker cut in half. 1)http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Megabass_Honjikomi_Cattle_Tongue_6pk/descpage-MBHCT.html cut about an inch off of the front and wow this will get you bigger fish and I'm not sure why?? If you would like a cheaper alternative go with the http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/GrandeBass_Honcho_8pk/descpage-GRDBHON.html#multiview or the http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Big_Bite_Baits_Stick_Tail_8pk/descpage-BBBSTTL.html#multiview I'm also rigging these a little longer than the traditional Ned.....about a five inch worm, yes it's more costly but, that's not an issue for me. I also have had more bigger bass eat these on the Ned http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Big_Bite_Baits_Jeff_Kriet_-_Squirrel_Tail_Worm_10pk/descpage-BBBSQTW.html#multiview I use the whole 4.5 inch version. staying with Big Bite these also have picked bigger fish and I don't know why?? http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Big_Bite_Baits_Jeff_Kriet_-_Shaking_Squirrel_Worm/descpage-BBBSHSQ.html#multiview These are merely my opinion based on observations over the last 6 months of fishing......and yes I am a bait whore and I like to experiment. Old guy talking here. Charlie Brewers "Do Nothing" slider heads and worms made bait around 5 inches long when rigged. The largest non-Canadian small mouth I ever had had on the line broke me off. He or she still owns a slider head worm. Ham 1
dtrs5kprs Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 And they made the Whirly Bee, which was, and is, a terror on brown fish at times. Little spinner over the hook. Have also heard it called a Mattie. Had a similar arrangement he used with the TX rig slider head, with the swivel and blade on the hook below the worm. Have only seen that one. There are some cool, old videos of Brewer fishing lakes like Wheeler and Pickwick on YouTube.

Chief Grey Bear Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 It was cut with some Louisiana.Ahhhh ok. That sounds good. I'll try that. I got some smoked pickled eggs the other day and that will go real good on them. rps Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 I always liked the Slider bodies but wasn't a big fan of the jig. Did you like the jig? No I trimmed it with dykes. I started with the 1/4 ounce and trimmed the front stick out part off to where it was about a 1/8th. Chief Grey Bear 1
joeD Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Conclusion: Some people like and fish the Ned rig. Some don't. The rest don't know and probably have no friends and live with their moms. MOsmallies, Daryk Campbell Sr, Smallieguy87 and 1 other 4
