I thought my waterfowl hunting addiction was bad, well it is bad. But it isn't 50 large bad. When combined with my green fish addiction...ugh...nevermind. I hunt a bunch and I could never justify that kind of money for a sheep or a goat. Although some old boys throw down 5k to hunt ducks up at Habitat Flats for 3 or 4 days. The 1% have money to spend and I guess if you find a way to take it from them more power to ya.

Interesting -- I was gonna guess 7 years at 7-8% with 10% down for someone with good credit.

7 years at 3.25%?? Sheesh!! I guarantee you Arvest is buying that paper from the dealer at a discount.

That Arvest was a personal loan deal or I believed they called it a fun loan for what ever you wanted, including boats.

The other loan rate of 4.99% is current and on going for up to 240 months on boat loans. It is not an Arvest loan.

OldMill, I don't think we are even talking about the 1% anymore, it has gone way beyond that. Probably 20 plus percent. I always forget the name of the sheep, but its not a Dall or a Big Horn. It kind of has a saddle on its back. That deal is 30 grand and its for 7 days.

One of my clients went to Africa last year and killed an Elephant and a bunch of plains game. I think the Elephant cost him 30 grand alone. He also bought a new rifle for 60 grand I believe. I think Beck has a client that has several of these European made double guns that are in that price range, and more.

Saw one of those double guns in the fine gun locker at Cabelas with a price tag of 80 grand on it. Waiting list was 5 yrs. they had that many ordered.

My son is single and 31 yrs. old. He has been making 6 figures for the past 8 yrs. These young folks have money.

I just find it hard to buy a boat that cost more than my truck, and I drive a Duramax. If I was using it to make a living like you Bill it would be different, at least it would be a tax right off.

I see your point but only to a point. My boat is an 02 so it's not in the new boat price discussion. If it were in my family's budget to own a new boat I would thought but again that only to a point. I know I'm sounding vague. I'll try to make sense.

I'm a machinist that drives 60 miles a day and park in a gravel parking lot at work or a gravel driveway at home. I drive a $2500 car. I've had nice cars but really all I do is fret over it smelling like a machine shop or trying to keep it clean inside and out etc. Plus putting miles on it too. A cheapo car that's reliable is all I need. My wife's trailblazer pulls my boat pretty darn good so it's the tow rig. Now would I feel right about buying a new boat knowing the trailblazer is getting long in the tooth? Nah not really. But if I had a newer lower miles truck or suv and could afford both I sure would. It wouldn't bother me to tow a $30k plus rig with a $15k truck. I'm sure lots of people think I'm stupid for driving a $2500 car to work while owning a $12-15000 bassboat too. Maybe I am. Maybe my priorities are a little lopsided but the time I get to trap my boys in that boat with me makes it worth it. I'm not saying you or anyone here thinks that way, I was just saying.

It just depends on budget and what your uses of the vehicles are. Like I said my old car just has to go from here to there. That's just my situation though.

Now if I worked closer to home I'd sell the old car and buy a couple 12' talons for the boat and sell the 8 footer. Now that's getting priorities jacked up lol.

I must be in the wrong field.

Not too many 30 somethings are making 6 figures, some are but most are not.

Totally agree, no one knows your personal finances better than you. With a young family there are priorities and more so yet, what you feel comfortable with.

What rig someone drives it totally their business. My wife drives a 2009 Malibu with 140 grand on it. She could drive what ever she wanted.

Money and finance is always a very subjective topic.

It is great to be in the good old US of A and we can drive or fish what ever we want.

Everyone really wants to enjoy themselves but the old saying "it is not how much you make but how much you keep" applies even to prosperous young people as well.

There is a significant difference between making a lot of money and having a lot of money. This is particularly difficult if you enjoy bass fishing...LOL

This sport is EXPENSIVE!!

Well I don't think it's any bodies business what you spend your money on. I catch a lot crap for how we spend our money and I think that's ignorant. If I want to spend it all on bassboats and Cheetos I will.

By the way I don't own a boat.

Chemical, petroleum, nuclear, aeronautical, environmental engineers are making that type of money in their twenty's

Kansas City and Des Moines are now the Engineering capitals of the US and there are litterly 10's of thousands of these young Engineers that are just tearing it up.

HDR alone employees close to 9000 engineers and they don't want the kids fresh off the turnip truck. They employee tons of very high quality experienced engineers.
