Is fishing aging out?

Recommended Posts

You can leave it in the car. Can't hear that thing ringing when it's stuck in the glove box.

I do that. If I ever took my phone with me in my fishing vest that would probably be the end of it anyway.

It's just nicer to be able to say what amounts to "no, I couldn't get your call, because I was a bit too far from civilization to be within reach, while you were sitting behind your desk." Unfortunately, that's pretty hard to do these days. Even Little Piney now has cell reception by Lane Spring. The Current River is spotty at best, so I guess there's still that.

I understand, but there is another way. How about "No I couldn't get your call because I wasn't taking calls at the time". I understand having a phone for work and sometimes you just have to answer it. But I don't make a huge effort after business hours. Wife and Kids, always pick up. Anybody else? Well it's just a crap shoot. If I'm not doing something else and I have time then fine I'll answer it. But if I'm busy then I won't. And I never feel bad about that. I don't want to call somebody and interrupt them so I expect the same thing. But of course I grew up in a time where if you were not at home nobody was calling you anyway. This need to be "connected" 24/7 has not hit me and never will. Oh I have to have my smartphone with me at all times, I like being able to connect to the internet and email. But just because it's ringing does not mean I have to answer it. I have voice mail and texting for a reason.

And as a side note but relevant I hear today about ( Free Range Kids ) I had to look it up and just shook my head after. HELL All my friends and I were that growing up, Then again before I could drive I would ride my bike to go hunting gun strapped on the handle bars and all the cops would do is pull me over to see how I did and many times give me a ride home same for fishing trips and even had a knife on my side.

I always answer my phone. Ya never know when it's someone wanting to give you money !

Yours is a little bit different as a business owner. I'd say 9 time out of 10 when I answer my phone it's going to cost me money.

I was thinking about that kind of thing over the weekend. We carried 22s all over the place when we were young. I bet a kid carrying a BB gun today would be subject to a good tazing.

I really have to shake my head and laugh and same time want to punch someone out. Some of my best sources for quail spots were those cops and I would in turn share dove and rabbit spots. FREE RANGE Lmao it was simply called being a kid back then. I knew my butt better be home before the street lights or porch lights came on. I never wore a helmet on my bike and I have many scars from falling out of trees, broken arm from jumping out of a swing and numerous other injuries.

Hell I spent more time in the Dr's office growing up from self inflected injuries got to the point he could guess if I was fishing, hunting, bike riding or tree climbing. Even complemented me on a stitch job I did when I cut my leg open gutting a rabbit ( knife slipped ). Todays Abuse was yesterdays Kids being kids and parents letting us learn from our mistakes.
