I have noticed in the last few Pflueger Supreme I have bought there is 1 piece of clear "tape" like a sticker. I can not figure out its use or intention. Hopefully someone can enlighten me?

from Pflueger

Thank you for contacting Pflueger.  The adhesive strips are reel foot protectors.  You can place them on the reel foot to protect from scratches and marks transferring the reel in and out of various rods.

We hope this information adequately answers your question.  If you have any additional questions or inquiries, please feel free to contact us again.

Thank you for fishing Pflueger!

I have had to place strips of duck tape on my reel feet before, to get the reel to mount solid to certain rods.

The old Berkely Series One Rods didn't like my metal frame 4600C reels.  They wouldn't tighten down good unless you "shimmed" it.

It's misdirection. If something is added on to a product that no one asks for and is not really needed, at negligible cost to the producer, and then is advertised as an "additional" feature, then, you have, for example, in Pfluegers case, a band aid.

When you cut yourself out of frustration with a Pflueger reel, you will have something minimal to staunch your regret for buying a Pflueger.

Strange, are they protecting the actual reel foot? Which is usually steel? Or are they protecting the rod reel seat, which is plastic?

agree with Wrench on that, I've had to add gaskets/spacers in reel seats for certain brand reels, to keeps the reel from moving around and get a solid mount.
