Tanderson15 Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 The people that dumped the carp are worthless. Smoke carp are good. I do not kill anything I would not eat.. That's why all fish are releleased that are not 18" walleyes. If the lake is over loaded with them maybe.
Feathers and Fins Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Which part is illegal? Not arguing, just a legitimate question. Is it that they were supposed to dump them somewhere else, or that they dumped them to begin with? No law against it unfortunately as they are a rough fish. but when I see things like that it makes me wonder what else might be going on. I wish they would just incorporate all fish under wanted waste laws. Been seeing a lot of carcasses left in the water by the docks and ramps lately and that also gives fishermen a bad name. For god sake take them out in deep water and dump them no reason to leave them where everyone can see them. Members Kyle R Posted April 10, 2015 Members Posted April 10, 2015 I don't ever kill carp (except small ones for bait), but I've always been told they were bad for the lake. They take up a lot of oxygen that other fish could use. I'm not sure how true that is. A lot people, like the carp busters, take pride in killing them. I never really had an opinion, other than they're fun on ultra lights, or that they can make a bad summer day fun when nothing else bites.
Big Brown Trout Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 when i fish i fish to eat. that said why would anyone kill another animal just to do it. Even if you don't like carp i dont think it's right to come in and kill them for no reason. Makes me want to start sticking people with arrows, just to do it. Let the summer of Carp, begin.

Different deal if so. Those are invasive Asian carp. We don't have them. I highly doubt there's any truth to them Taking up oxygen considering they occupy .000001% of the water at any given time. There are a few people who I think waste oxygen for the rest of us, yet in reality they have very little actual effect.
Amery Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 They are definitely not bad for the lake. A "catch and release" bow fisherman must have told you that.

I can relate personally, but I get the bow fishing deal. And ultimately it's a culling tool for a population that's difficult to manage otherwise. It's not my deal, but I get it.
Bird Watcher Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 lol, they are an introduced invasive species. You guys need to buy your underwear a size bigger. ETA: The stinking mess is disgusting, I agree. Then again, I see people who are more than happy to live in their own filth every day. Be honest, how many of you drive a vehicle that is stinking disgusting mess or have a pile of dirty dishes in your sink? Did you all take the trash out before you left home this morning?
fishinwrench Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Yeah, in truth there aren't many predators of grown carp, and an overpopulation would be ugly. I guess they need to be thinned out occasionally.
Terrierman Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Buzzards gotta eat too, same as worms. Thus sayeth The Outlaw Josey Wales. In nature, there is no waste. Count on that.
